I'm out - the cancellations thread

Geely/Lotus should never have put out that first release schedule. In a rush to get orders in the bag they made a typical mistake and issued promises with zero regard to the upcoming mfg environment and ability of the factory to produce. It's the well known Sales v Service conflict, As a...

I'm out - the cancellations thread

Sigh, this time I cancelled for real..:) We have a tough year ahead next year and retiring credit debt makes more sense than tying up money for a car I won't see for another 1-2 years. My guess is if I still want an Emira by then there will be plenty to choose from! Good luck to all and I'm...

    Forever cars

Sigh, I've owned a few "forever" cars. I thought my first car, a Datsun 510 was it. Had to trade it for kids and a wife. Years later I got one of the first 350zs. Started to fall apart right after warranty. Then the "new" 05 Mustang GT. Had to get rid of it to make room for my real...

Let's talk about the Emira's seats...

67 here, probably 75 by the time I get my Emira and my back is fine, it's everything else that is falling apart..:) Not really, I've been fortunate and blessed with pretty good health!

You might be surprised, they are still a "penny stock".

Yep, better known as "buyer's remorse". Don't let 'em out the door because you will probably lose the sale..:) I'm still "wobblin" on this one too!

    First Edition vs Base Spec

Exactly! I still risk buying green bananas though so as they said in Monty Python's flick, "I'm not quite dead yet."..:)

I'm out - the cancellations thread

I may have missed it in one of your creative and entertaining posts but re the seats, did you find the seat bottom hard/uncomfortable? I read another post here that mentioned it and that is indeed a deal breaker for me as I'm about to drive my Lincoln into the sea because of their "30way...

I thought maybe that might be it..:) That's a great yearly price!!

I got it on my Lincoln but only because we bought the "Black Label". It almost makes it worth putting up with the rock hard seat bottoms......almost.

    Emira insurance in the US

I agree. It did occur to me that I should get a bunch of quotes and I can still keep my AAA on existing cars/house and simply buy a policy for the Emira from someone else. I'll be doing that next week. After speaking with my Dealer she put me back on the fence regarding buying this car. Call...

    Emira insurance in the US

Yeah believe it or not I'm already "bundled"! I'm paying about $2500 for a '22 Aviator and a '15Chevy Silverado. For whatever reason they ain't passin' out no discounts on an Emira...:(

    Emira insurance in the US

Wow full comp? That's pretty good! Only problem with me leaving is I've bundled my home and cars and the last time I looked at changing the difference wasn't big enough to make it worthwhile..:(

    Emira insurance in the US

I had to get stated value collector's ins. on my Pantera. It was still expensive. Don't you guys pay a lot for registration back there? I thought I read that one o' the states back there was outrageous? They manage to get us one way or another it seems like.

I'm out - the cancellations thread

Sadly, Yep I agree. It was gunna be a toy but as I thought about my past toys I remembered how the fun dissipated once service/tuning issues arose and the things became more of a curse than a blessing..:( I'm too old and grumpy to go down that road again.

I'm out - the cancellations thread

Well it's been fun. One problem with making people wait is that old "buyer's remorse" kicks in and we come to our senses..:) I priced out insurance here in Calif. and good coverage would run me $4k per year. That combined with sparse parts/service and only a 2 year warranty helped make my...

    First Edition vs Base Spec

Pretty sure you missed the intent of my comment. If money was a problem we wouldn't be buying these toys. But only a fool would pass on an opportunity to get the same thing for less money.

C8 is "more controllable at its limits than the Lotus Emira." - Rory Reid

I had a c6z06 for 12 fun years and I drove the pants off it, but there is no way on the street to explore the upper limits of the Corvette. I doubt I'll get to the upper limit of the Emira either but my guess/hope is that I'll be able to use more of it than the Vette. I'm after that balance...

    Desirability

There are a bunch of variables that will answer that question. I don't care how beautiful or desirable a car is, after you look at it for a few years the excitement begins to wane. And if you follow through and finally get that car there will be a bit of a let-down simply because all that...

    V6 Auto First Edition Canada/US

Wow! Aug '21?!!! I put mine down in Sept. of this year and was told end of '23. It's looking like that is a bit optimistic. If June of next year comes and I don't get to place an order I think I might be moseying over to Ford for one of those new 8sp manual Blackhorse Mustangs. I want a...

    V6 Auto First Edition Canada/US

Well that's a drag. Did the Dealer ask for that 2nd deposit? I dunno if it is just my Dealer but the initial deposit is refundable and once you actually place an order everything becomes Not-refundable.

    The cabin space?

I like the Nimus too. I wish the green was more "green" because I really like the car in that darker color. Problem is I think they put too much blue/gray in the semi-clear top coat so unless the light is shining just right the car look like a cloudy blue/gray much of the time. Yuck plus...

Rev counter in track - who's smoking what at lotus

I'm embarrassed to say I just discovered that a few months ago while reading the service manual on my wife's car! Kind of a nice feature especially if you drive a bunch of different cars!

Rev counter in track - who's smoking what at lotus

Yeah that's the first thing I noticed too! I sure hope it's going from left to right otherwise this thing would have a tiny fuel tank!
  36. Pops68

    The cabin space?

I wouldn't call it cramped at all. I thought the all black interior made it a bit depressing but if you go with any of the colors to brighten things up a bit it's a nice place to be. It's tighter than a Corvette but still very comfortable IMO. If you are happy with your TT's room you...

When is the V6 going to be discontinued???

My "President" is an idiot. I am holding out hope that common sense will prevail and we will slow the roll on this farcical "green agenda". I know it's political but it's also the elephant in the room so I couldn't help myself..:)

2030, that's about the time we will be getting our cars..:)
