I know this will be somewhat controversial.........

I suspect that’s why they offer 2 suspension setups (touring and sports) which will have different characteristics on the road and track. Agree it’s not an Exige but I’m sure it will hold it’s own with Michelin Cup 2 rubber and a firmer suspension set up. All will be revealed when it gets tested...

I know this will be somewhat controversial.........

Not sure I agree having spoken to the Lotus HQ team at Hethel. Mr Scott Walker who I believe is a very credible reference point. The Emira is being marketed and sold as a GT as well as track weapon. Their view (not mine) is residuals won’t be impacted if you have auto vs manual.

I know this will be somewhat controversial.........

A fair position. Referencing the original maverick1 post about being controversial. Welcome the views and ability to share but I think it’s fair to say the balanced view is equal for manual vs auto/IPS. I’m sure we will all enjoy the pleasure and being fortunate enough to buy our Emira’s...

I know this will be somewhat controversial.........

What’s the transmission on a Formula 1 or Le Mans/endurance car ? I would love a manual if it was an occasional car but not for touring or more regular use on UK roads

I know this will be somewhat controversial.........

Totally agree each to their own and the reality is modern day traffic lends itself to an automatic for everyday use. For those of us who aren’t just using it as a track toy / occasional car an automatic makes more sense and having driven an Evora with the IPS box can concur it is excellent

The official Lotus Emira Deposit thread

Understand where you’re coming from and I pushed my FE back so have 2 deposits down for an early V6 base edition in 2023/24 so allows time to see and hear more about the car. Shame as I’m sure lotus are on to a winner and I am in no rush. Also means I have another 1.5 - 2 years with my RS5 V8...

What other “raw” cars have you owned ?

I’ve got 2 I can put into this category. Found a picture of this my Fisher Fury V8. Fantastic kit car I bought in 2002/3 already built. Rover V8 no filters on the carb other than sieve mesh. Rear live axle and a great fun on hillclimbs and track days. Sold it in 2006 and bought a TVR Griffith...

    Would you rather?

Just moved myself out of FE V6 to Base edition V6 and should get one of the early ones as my original deposit was July 14th. Happy to wait and see how year 1 production goes and see what colours, options etc are available on the base. Le Mans 2024 now for my Emira’s debut !

FE Deposit done but want to test drive before the final commitment...

That’s the Evora i tested and what a machine. Bit too hardcore for what I have in mind as a daily driver, long journeys as well as an occasional track day. I liked the IPS box and whilst a manual is very tempting modern traffic and long journeys put me off although it’s a close run thing !

    Keeping a Lotus outside

Thanks for this. I ceramic coated my current car and worked a treat. Autobead and did a DIY treatment. Yes not sure on covers and if they are any good in the medium to long run.

Good question! Not on the road in a driveway on a quiet road so hope to avoid any vandalism issues etc.

    Keeping a Lotus outside

One question I’ve been thinking about as my previous garage is now a kitchen ! My Emira will live outside and I was just curious what Evora owners have experienced if their pride and joy isn’t garaged ? I plan to get a cover for it and would hope it will more than cope but thought I’d ask!

Twelve Go Wild On An Island

Fantastic idea Tom! My FE V6 is unlikely to arrive until after this so I’m good for 2023 although I’ll be taking my Emira to Le Mans that year so will have to build up brownie points with Mrs B!! I’m planning on coming to the Guildford December meet so can hopefully meet a few Lotus owners and...

    Manual Or Auto Box

I had a big smile on my face and genuinely couldn’t tell the difference. If there is some lag its milliseconds so unless you’re time trialling at goodwood I personally don’t think you’d notice the difference. I drove my Rs5 DSG v8 home and if I’m honest felt underwhelmed after my Evora IPS...
