Interesting Article on the Cost of the Electric Future

Lots of armchair experts in this thread making themselves look silly. There's no easy answer to slow humanities dependency on hydrocarbons, or obviously it would've been solved already. This is one of the toughest problems we currently face, and people 10x smarter than all of us have been...

    PPF on new car

FYI ceramic coating does nothing to protect the paint. It just keeps the car clean, like a long-lasting high end wax. The bonding strength of paint to the car is orders of magnitude greater than the strength of the adhesive on PPF, so I'm very surprised anyone has ever had paint-lifting...

Out of curiosity, what convinces you an M2 is faster than the Emira? Especially on the track? The M2 has similar power, more torque due to the turbo, but the Emira is 220lbs lighter *correction: 400lbs lighter (!), mid-engine balance, and better suspension geometry. Given the same driver, I'd...

    Factory Tour 12th May

Your use of a double negative makes your question confusing. GPF's don't protect the ozone layer, they remove particulates. Probably 90% of the cars on the road in the US don't have one. Most American's lifestyles create far more harmful emissions from their everyday habits than anything...

    Factory Tour 12th May

If that's true, I hope it can be easily removed. Of all the silly things people complain about on here, most don't bother me... but that certainly would. I have virtually no interest spending ~$100k on a sports car if it's neutered for another country's regulations. And I say that as an...

    An ode to roads.

Excellent list, bookmarking for later. The "Road to Hana" on Maui is another to consider if you start during an early morning sunrise. I plan to do Highway 101 from Olympic National Park to LA (1500 miles) within a few months of getting my Emira. Dozens of fantastic coastal towns and sites...

First Edition colours - first-hand impressions...

Hey I recognize that voice ha, thanks James, quite helpful. I've been wondering about the leather for a while now as I hate when leather interiors have grainy texture. Smooth and soft is the way to go. I think I'll be going with Alcantara with some colored stitching instead.

New photos from FB, unclear of source but looks like it could be the dealer's meeting that happened this week? That ice grey/magma combo is nice.

BOBT Just gave an Emira away and give it some revs

Sounds very good! I noticed the side intakes now have a mesh lattice that I've never seen before. And I like the brushed exhaust tips as opposed to the more matte look on the pre-production grey show car.

    Provisional WLTP readings

Generally yes, but there are always exceptions. A common example being a well designed rear diffuser can create usable downforce while simultaneously reducing drag.

    Sound vs drivability

Mclaren 720S, modern Ferrari's, Audi RS's, plus many others. Makes me laugh people are already commenting on the supposed amazing compliance of the Emira when they haven't even driven it yet 😆 No surprise Porsche RS cars are stiff. They've always been like that, they're just getting...

Emira forged and cast wheel thread

I care more about specs since I'll use the Cup 2's for the track and the Goodyears on aftermarket forged wheels for the street. Confirmed: Front: 20x8.5" 245/35/20 Rear: 20x10" 295/30/20 Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport or Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2's Unconfirmed: -Offset (possibly +55 front and...

To me the Emira looks so much better than both the GT3 and GT4.

Brumos? I lived in Jax until last fall and a guy I know from my track days just took delivery of a GT3 through them, he told me they only had 2 GT4RS allocations this year. I didn't even bother giving them a call since I knew it was a pipedream (I have zero history with Porsche since I'm only...

To me the Emira looks so much better than both the GT3 and GT4.

GT3 is to the Emira what the Emira is to a Miata. Just an entirely different level and probably the best sports car money can buy right now. Emira has the looks and cost, GT3 has everything else... If I could get one I'd keep it for life.

    Battery - Lithium or not?

If it doesn't come with one I'll be swapping it out. Easy and instant weight savings. Been running a 12V lithium battery in my daily for 3 years with no issue. It weights 4.9lbs whereas the OEM AGM battery was nearly 30.

Emira should have started with 450hp.

The discussion of the current manual gearbox already being at it's limit in the Evora GT with 416hp keeps coming up, but where is the source of that information? Komo-tec clearly offers +70hp/+66lbft upgrades on the Evora without any modifications to the transmission. I'm beginning to think it...

Emira should have started with 450hp.

I want more power and would happily pay more for it. I think $110k-$125k for a 450-480hp Emira would be fantastic. A nimble 6-7lb/hp (3kg/hp) ratio is sublime for a driver's car. The Emira at 8lb/hp is right at the lower limit of what I would consider a quick "sports car" which is a bit of a...

Lotus Eletre Reveal - Live Stream on NOW

Without a charging network at least half as robust or easy to use as Tesla's, sadly no other EV is practical (for me) yet. It's a shame, I would much prefer the superior build quality and styling of another premium brand, but I simply can't justify spending this kind of money if I can't take it...

    PPF news

I sure hope it's XPEL Ultimate or at least 3M if true. Most other PPF brands have much lesser quality. I also don't understand the point of doing 75%, just do the whole car seamless or none at all.

    Hello from the PNW USA

What makes you think it will be so long? 3 years implies only ~30 cars a year even if zero people dropout. They already have an allocation of 45 FE's for 2022 alone, and it will likely double by next year with more trims. I speculate I'll get my car summer/fall 2023, maybe early 2024 at the...

Well, it's official! Porsche dumps ICE for Boxster/Cayman

I feel exactly the same and that's my plan as well. Cars are not getting smaller or lighter, so I'm excited to have at least one lightweight (by today's standards) mid-engine manual sports car in the garage. Meanwhile I'll continue to daily a much quicker EV since they're miles better than ICE...

Lotus Emira vs 2023 Corvette Z06

I never understood the "too much power for the street" mindset. Do people think the gas pedal is an on/off button? Not trying to be a jerk here, but genuinely confused. Do folks not have self control or the ability to modulate their speed with their foot? I daily drive a quick 3.1sec 0-60 car...
  33. FlyNavy01

Anyone else surprised by the 0-60 times between the V6 & I4?

I'm not surprised that a bigger torque curve, less weight, and DCT will be quicker. My daily driver sedan does 0-60 in 3.1, even in the rain. I'm not buying this car for the acceleration. EV's won that game a long time ago.
  34. FlyNavy01

Any idea which version is lightest weight ?

Sounds like I'm getting base audio then  I don't buy a sports car for the gimmicky speakers. The premium audio comes from the two pipes sticking out the rear. 7lbs weight savings is just a bonus.

    Hello from the PNW USA

Excellent spec! If I was getting FE mine would be very similar. I was born and raised in the Portland area but have lived various places since 2015 due to my job. Currently in Whidbey Island and placed my deposit at Park Place a few months after you (I'm over 100 on their list). Hoping to take...

    Carfection video, first test...

Definitely very excited to finally see a proper video of the car! However a bit worrisome almost every single thing he mentioned was a rapid prototype or 3D printed part... Those headrests look super goofy to me. I really hope this was a car built many months ago, considering production was...

What are you driving until the Emira arrives?

Been driving a Model 3P since 2018 with a host of aftermarket suspension/brakes/wheels/tire upgrades, making it the ultimate daily driver for me. But it's still 4000lbs and a driver's car it is not. With Trofeo R's on, it managed consistent 1.4 lateral G's and similar lap times to a stock...
