Does it seem smaller than a 911?

This has been said before in other threads but, this car melts around you. I'm familiar with 991, but not 997. I'd say Emira cabin feels more compact, but the corners feel wider. You feel cab forward in the Emira, closer to the front of the car, but the right-front fender feels further away...

Tracker or fit your own Ghost?

As someone who had a vehicle with a (GPS) tracker stolen last year, pro thieves have ways to get around this. I ordered the factory track but plan to stash multiple AirTags in hard-to-access places (under front bonnet panel would be an ideal spot give you need tools to open). If they are...

What is so great about Nimbus Gray?

I don’t think you can go wrong then! Both would suit you well in different ways.

What is so great about Nimbus Gray?

Verdant is almost the opposite, in that it seems to purposefully restrain dynamic contrast. In the shade, it's near black, hiding the shape of the car. Then where the sun hits, you get these shimmers of highlight green that very narrowly/selectively highlight a particular shape in isolation...

What is so great about Nimbus Gray?

It is the color with the most "dynamic contrast". That means there is a greater range of light to dark, creating deeper gradients across the surfacing of the car and highlighting the shape more than other colors. That, plus it's the color that sits right at the intersection of classy and...

Is Vivid Red too "Ferrari" looking?

I saw one on the factory floor back in April 2022. It was sitting on the line. I believe it was seen in a couple of photos bouncing around the UK as a demo tester. I’m confident it was vivid red because it very closely matches the swatch that was just released, although like Seneca, cameras...

Is Vivid Red too "Ferrari" looking?

I think I’m one of the few to have seen vivid red in person. It’s more “Ferrari” than Magma. The configurator is way off. The thing about Vivid Red is it’s like a highlighter color. It’s EXTREMELY bright. Like the paint seems to glow, and it will grab the attention of anyone within 500 yards...

How is it different in person? What surprised you?

It has serious presence in person. It looks very exotic, and “substantial”. Also I saw one coming toward me on the opposite side of the motorway on the way to Hethel. I was literally driving there to see the Emira and the car I saw coming, the light signature, shape and presence grabbed my eye...

Looks like Ford is coming out with a competitor

Unless the detail that the rumors missed is that it's front-mid-engined. Which looks like it would still be tough with this packaging, but if the Miata can do it... EDIT: just saw this was already mentioned

    New Emira Configurator!

Funny story a buddy of mine called up a dealer and told them he wanted to place a deposit on an Evija (he meant to say Emira) and the dealer got excited and explained the $50k deposit. He said he’d have to consult his wife and since then he’s gotten at least one invite to some sort of Evija...

Red calipers and red interior on Nimbus was my original spec. I've since changed it, but then I saw the combo in the flesh again and doubted my choices. You won't be disappointed.

    New Emira Configurator!

I noticed they pulled the old configurator last week. This one is so much better. Also, lots of clues here about what's optional on the base model. Many "packs" with just one option pre-checked. Edit: Evija has all the colors I want. Lotus is showing us they are self aware. I can also...

New colour samples being released to dealers

This matches the vivid red I saw in the factory over a year ago. That car yanked your eye toward it no matter where you were or how far away. It screams at you, highlighter bright. It looks awesome. The rest, very meh. Maybe the flat zinc could be nice but I think that's trendy, and on the...

I don't get the I4 - what is the target audience?

Frankly China (and other places with emissions standards that either tax or outright prohibit the v6) and women. Lotus has been pretty open about wanted to appeal more to women. You can also see it in their advertising campaign.

    USA/Canada Delivery Thread

I read it so long ago I no longer remember where but, I believe the 135 and Emira are meant to be built side-by-side in that hall. The implication was that Lotus would be discontinuing the V6 to make room for the 135, but not the Emira in general. The more delays occur, the shorter the v6 run...

Appearance of Seneca Blue in person

The thing about Seneca is, it is a deeply saturated color. Like, it almost hurts the eyes when you see it in sunshine (in a good way). It's not a BRIGHT color, it's more of a medium shade. In fact, the shade doesn't read to the eye as very special BUT that saturation effect is unique and is what...

Based on Evora etc, what standard features in FE do we think will cost additional on the base model?

Just guessing but I suspect alcantara will come at a slight premium over leather, and a leather color will come at a premium over black leather.

    Emira Review Index [I4 FE]

From Pistonheads: I'm noticing a lot of reviews are making it sound like the I4 has had a £20k+ price hike. They mention the original starting price, then they mention the FE price (which has inflated) as if it's the new starting price, and then compare it to the starting price of the Cayman...

    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

Respected reviewers are respected because they‘ve been doing this for a while. The only way to keep doing this for a while is to maintain relationships with automakers. The review you describe would burn those bridges, and could sink that reviewer’s ability to access future cars. I’m not saying...

    Emira Review Index [I4 FE]

Here’s my problem with the i4: It might be better than the V6 in daily commuting but it’s not the best option for daily commuting. So now I have a car that isn’t the best at either thing I might use it for. Frankly if I lose the engagement of the V6 noise and the manual transmission, I’d just...

    New version of Apple Carplay

It's a very common failure on Elise to have the gauges just die or become intermittent. Recently happened to me, discovered many forum complains of the same issue, had it quoted as a $700 cluster rebuild or replace with a digital cluster. So in a way it's the same as it ever was. 🤷‍♂️

    New version of Apple Carplay

This is just extended mirroring. Automakers offer up extensions of their data for the dash and Apple displays it in their own UX combined with the Apple user's data into one experience. Apple isn't taking over anyone's traction control. Although they may restyle the button for it. The article...

    USA/Canada Delivery Thread

I spent a couple of seasons tracking both of my cars, a Model 3 Performance and an ND Miata. They were polar opposites, but equal fun. The Model 3 was surprising in how well it turned in, it's clear the traction control is doing a lot to rotate that car, but it works. Dialing in the power...

Alcantara vs Leather steering wheel choice

I chose alcantara for similar reasons. I wanted it to feel special, like an occasion. I would recommend googling some videos on how to clean an alcantara wheel. It’s pretty simple and you seem to have the right attitude about it. Will just take a little extra thought in keeping a brush/kit in...

Convince me to order this thing

I've driven the car on multiple occasions, including on track. It's worth it. You have to go into this like you're buying a baby exotic, expecting that there will be fewer dealers and fewer parts IF that's an issue. That's been a Lotus reality for decades, and people still adore their Elises...

    USA/Canada Delivery Thread

The buried lede here is Q1 2024 delivery for most. It took Evora 3 months to make it from the production line to the US showroom. Assuming the same here, a September build date means a December delivery. Meaning most of these cars are arriving in 2024.

Any dates yet for I4 review cars and embargo etc?

Smoking Tire said they'd have a track review of i4 "soon". Everyday Driver is releasing their Emira test drive pod on Sunday, which is the dedicated review after they released a glowing Emira/C8/Cayman comparison. That's the V6 tho.
