I definitely get the most thumbs up from motorcycles.

📓 Journals People's reaction to your Emira

Busy day. 1 young guy (maybe 20s) crossing in front on a walk light, takes notice of the car and has visible confusion on his face, slows down, full neck crane as he passes, he stops, leans in to read the badge, shows even more visual confusion after seeing what it is, finally reaches the...

Who here has tracked their Emira?

I haven't tracked mine yet (though I did track the cars at Hethel) but the car should be ready to go out of the box. AP racing brakes, Cup 2 tires (Goodyears are fine too), DOT4 brake fluid. Show up and run. Don't forget your tow hook.

📓 Journals People's reaction to your Emira

After 3 months, some of my favorite interactions. Yesterday I'm parked on a street, texting in my parking spot. Police cruiser pulls up next to me, signals for me to put my window down. I obliged. Officer says, "Want to trade?" Cars and Coffee, McLaren sent an employee with a new Artura to...

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?

New Acura "Performance EV" concept unveiled at Monterey Car Week. The rear design looks... familiar! The irony is the press release says the rear design is inspired by the 2nd-gen NSX.

    Intermittent failure to start

This happened to me for the first time today, at 3,000 miles. For clarity, I've had the cold start stalling issue, but that has weirdly gone away. It did it consistently for a couple of weeks, and then stopped. It did stop with a new tank of fuel (I only fill it with Mobile 93 or Shell 93). Has...

    The 1st Edition isn't exclusive

Let's see what happens with the base model. I'm not fully convinced the V6 will continue. If I'm right, First Edition would = V6 manual.

The likely delay of the EV Elise can have consequences on the continuation of the Emira

From what I can tell this article isn't saying anything. The Type 135 isn't delayed. An "electric Elise" isnt happening but wasn't slated to happen anyway. Reading between the lines, I think Ben Payne is maybe just setting the expectation that the Type 135 will be heavier than they want, or at...

Cup Holder Alternatives & Drinks/Mugs That Fit

Something I’ve started doing is just motoring the passenger seat forward enough that I can firmly press the cup between the back of the seat and the rear shelf. For something like a thermos or a water bottle that works perfectly. Assuming you have no tall passengers.

    Emira vs … Miata?

RF was never an option for me because at 6’0” my hair grazes the roof. No way a helmet would fit.

    Cold start stalling

I do. Called my dealer and they said they'd talk to their Lotus field rep. They got back to me and the field rep said he hadn't heard of the issue before. Meanwhile, it's a top post on the forum with over 200 comments.

    Cold start stalling

2400 miles. Mine started as soon as I got it back from the dealer after my break in oils change, which happened around 1500 miles.

    Emira vs … Miata?

I had a Miata before my Emira and I’m tempted to pick up an ND3 as a daily. I have a lot of thoughts on these two cars, I think they’re very kindred but not for the obvious reasons. I’ll probably make a video, because it’s an essay. Suffice it to say, I think the Miata is a step that leads to...

Alfa 4c looking to purchase an Emira but am unsure

I’ve spent a weekend with a 4C in the SoCal hills, I rented one from Turo because I was considering buying one, so I’ve experienced that car albeit briefly. Frankly, I did not like it. My main gripes were transmission, noise, styling and build quality. Around town, I feel like the gearbox was...

So disappointed with Zinc grey ...

Are you sure you want the Emira at all? This car strikes me as the kind of experience you have to really want in order to live with it, because while it's lightyears ahead of previous Lotus on comfort you're still making daily sacrifices with this car. If you're persuaded by the color into...

Why are so many Emiras being resold in the USA?

Weird I looked up Autotrader earlier and saw no private sales within 500 miles of New England. There are cars on there, but they are all at dealers and priced as new FE 2.0 so I assume they are dealer to-be-delivered.

Emira Issues - from final production cars

Welp check engine light back on today, service appointment was already on the books so that’s convenient. Service says they need it for 3-4 days because at this stage every CEL involves the factory to understand what’s happening. That’s fine, though it means I’ll miss British car day at the...

Emira Issues - from final production cars

Ah see I thought I was clever clearing the code to see if it would come back, seems the car will clear itself if it wants. Washed it yesterday, and caught a hint of rain, but have mostly avoided heavy water of either sort around the cowl because I don’t have the rain fix installed. Everywhere...

Emira Issues - from final production cars

Got my first engine light this morning, feels like I’m officially a Lotus owner. U0121, failure to communicate with ABS module. Cleared it, didn’t come back again (yet?) Weird thing is my brakes have not felt strong since I got the car. Hmm. On a side note why don’t cars just have a place in...

What did you do to your Emira today?

1500 miles on mine, revved it up to 6000 on a launch and definitely heard a new section of the symphony come alive. Seems to be opening up.

    Dashcam for the Emira

I was towed for street cleaning, so no keys. They put the car on a “hook” (elevating rear wheels, dragging front) when it should have been on a flat bed or at minimum with dollies under front wheels as an AWD EV. Luckily my battery was low, and the slow speed / short distance to the yard didn’t...

External batteries are also generally hard wired (they charge faster that way). So whatever recording time you get by hard wiring, you get that PLUS whatever the external battery gives you.
