June delivery delay - Lotus now says July…

I‘m quite sure it‘s a general delay. My dealer told me a few weeks ago that my car will be delayed. It was planned for a July delivery and I now got a build slot in August, so roughly a two months delay for me.

    Toyota V6 engine....?

The engines design is old, but certainly not basic. It has a lot of tech like variable valve timing for example. To answer your question: It's port injection only, with all it's benefits like no carbon build-up on the valves, way less particulates and NOx than direct injection engines (that's...

Emira should have started with 450hp.

My Crafter has 177 hp and 5300 lbs. Which years Ferrari spec was that again? Maybe we just have to realize that different cars are made for different cases. The Emira is no Supercar whatsoever and will never be. Lotus might have found just the right compromise with the budget they had. If they...

    My trip to Hethel

It's 99% sure that CarPlay won't be wireless because from all info that we could gather, there is only Bluetooth fitted to the Emira, but no WiFi. For wireless CarPlay you require both. However There is a WiFi dongle called Carlinkit 3.0 on the market that fixes this issue for around a 100 bucks...

    Canadian FE orders.....??

Those two are both old A45s (W176) with another engine as well. The new Model (W177) doesn't even come close to that. It really is no comparison at all (sadly).

    I'm back, but different....

I'm quite sure they will delay the cars. I was originally told that I will get mine late July. Now Lotus confirmed the build slot for somewhere in August. My dealer told me that in the past it took another three weeks for the car to arrive at the dealer after it was built and one more week for...

    Yellow Emira at Eletre launch

Other manufacturers simply can't do that. The gas particulate filter is a must for every new car in the EU. With one exception of course: If you only produce less than 10.000 cars a year, you don't require one. That's why Lotus doesn't need one in the Emira this year. And this is also why the...

Goodyear eagle F1 for lotus vs Michelin Pilot sport 4s for Porsche?

Also Sports suspension with Goodyears. For me the tire choice is a no-brainer. The Cup2s are dead every 8.000km, only really work when it‘s dry and require a bit of temperature as well which is hard to reach on public roads. If you plan on tracking the Emira however, it would be worth...

Lotus Emira vs 2023 Corvette Z06

So you think you could make this engine run safely at 500hp in the Emira without any further expanse? I really doubt that. I guess it would require another 10.000€ (turbo, cooling, brakes, exhaust, etc.) and also weight of course to make It work whilst including factory warranty. Another thing...

Lotus Emira vs 2023 Corvette Z06

I never heard of any reviewer that wanted more power from the Evora GT and I couldn‘t care less about what you just wrote, because I don’t wanna get philosophic about silly numbers. Both versions will be fast and that‘s great.

Lotus Emira vs 2023 Corvette Z06

Great post, however I have a more simple approach to why I think that you could have too much power. It was mentioned before that the gas paddle is not digital and that you don‘t have to use all your let‘s say 700hp all the time, which is true of course. If I face reality however, most cars only...

    More details for KEF Audio

If I consider that those 820W is RMS (which I doubt) and that there is a different setup with more speakers, you might get 3Db more from the Burmester system (if the drivers have roughly the same efficiency then the KEFs). The power figures just mean nothing. You require double the power to gain...

    More details for KEF Audio

In that scenario they should have more than enough channels and could control everything via DSP. Seems like the most obvious solution then.

    More details for KEF Audio

Yeah, I have a few of the miniDSP products flying around here. Great to work with them. A completely active design with DSPs is for sure the most obvious way to go for. However we can‘t tell because there are too many variables still.

    More details for KEF Audio

Sure you‘re right. The only things I know from the amps are the names that were posted here and that the HK unit has 8 channels. It‘s obviously a stereo setup plus center, no multi-channel stuff. Therefore you only need two (or three - depending on the base setup) channels from the base unit...

How do you use your G-Meter?

And with your g-meter you can measure the point where whining switches to fear. This point is known as the so-called g-spot. I think we answered the OPs question now.

Emira Honesty - Tell the Difference

If I really stick to the first post, meaning I don‘t have the possibility to compare the two respective versions, I‘m quite sure most people here couldn‘t tell any difference on any point. At least I couldn‘t. If you have just one car with no information about it, it‘s not possible to tell that...

    More details for KEF Audio

I think that there is no extra amp for the sub. Like I said in another tread, you don't have to use two channels per Uni-Q, it would just be the preferred choice. If you don't have enough channels, you could build a passive 2way-crossover for the Uni-Qs. I already built such hybrid systems where...

Anyone else surprised by the 0-60 times between the V6 & I4?

The i4 isn't really faster than the V6, nor does it have more torque. If you get the Automatic on the V6, it also has 430 NM and 4.2 sec 0-60, so they are exactly the same. However the DCT has 8 gears and therefore shorter gears which leads to more wheel torque. It probably has to shift twice to...

Will today reveal IE F4 pricing?

Has somebody any idea, why the difference between V6 and i4 FE is way less in the UK than in Germany and the US? And how on earth can the V6 base be 15.000€ cheaper than the FE in Germany when they told us that the FE has a 3.000€ advantage over a same spec base edition? Do I really get 18.000€...

Will today reveal IE F4 pricing?

Maybe they just converted it then. Why should it only be 4.000£ cheaper in the UK than the V6, but 8.000€ in Germany and 10.000$ in the US?
  25. F

Will today reveal IE F4 pricing?

No, you can't just convert the currency. It will be way more in Germany and the US. V6 FE is 75.995£ in the UK and 96.000€ in Germany for example. So realistically the i4 FE will be 92.000€ in Germany and 91.000-92.000$ In the US.
  26. F

Will today reveal IE F4 pricing?

I think the difference is only that small because they have to raise prices in general, but won't raise the already communicated V6FE price. The first edition was communicated to be a 3.000£ saving (roughly) over speccing a base edition the same way. That would mean that there are 15.000£ worth...

Will today reveal IE F4 pricing?

I checked it in the German configurator. Same here. And I can now choose the i4 First Edition!!! 360 hp finally confirmed now. I also went to the UK configurator. Prices are online! 75.995£ for the V6 FE, as we all know and 71.995£ for the i4 FE. so "only" 4.000£ of a difference.

    Emira production is underway

You are right to a point of course, but I think we all got it now. How often do you want to repeat the same stuff over and over again like a mantra? June and July deliveries are taking the risk of getting a car they don't fully know everything about. We didn't know that when we were ordering...

Any idea which version is lightest weight ?

right. I hoped that they could fit the Uni-Qs in the a pillars, maybe in a new 3" version or even the 4" ones from the KEF LSX which are doing a very good job at the price point. Unfortunately the couldn't. They could have also fitted them in the dash like they do for the center. Not perfect...

Any idea which version is lightest weight ?

But if they would fit tweeters in the a-pillars, they would interfere with the Uni-Qs tweeters, which would also sound like crap and would make using the Uni-Qs senseless. If there would be tweeters, there would be no need to use Uni-Qs in the first place and normal midrange drivers would be a...

Any idea which version is lightest weight ?

@JPorter900, @xen, @digilotus: we discussed about whether CarPlay will be wireless or not and like digilotus, I'm pretty sure it is not, because the Emira lacks the WiFi capability. However there's a really easy fix to it. I just bought a thing called Carlinkit 3.0 from Amazon and tested it in...

Any idea which version is lightest weight ?

Maybe I can find a spare one at my parents house and take a pic. I also only find pictures of Uni-Qs for ceiling mounting and they obviously have a crossover fitted to make them easy to install 😅
  34. F

Any idea which version is lightest weight ?

I had lots of them in my hands and figured out passive and active crossovers for them for private projects ;) Fitting crossovers to them makes no sense, because KEF is using the same Uni-Q drivers in different speakers with different baffles. The crossover has to compensate for that. Another...

    Interior lighting on the dash

You clearly see that the touchscreen is throwing a shadow there. Definitely sun light or another light source from the back.
  36. F

Any idea which version is lightest weight ?

First the Uni-Qs do not have a built-in passive crossover. There are no filters fitted at all to them and a Uni-Q has one pair of connectors for tweeter and one for midrange. Of course KEF could build passive crossovers nonetheless and drive each Uni-Q with one amp channel. The Japanese document...

    Interior lighting on the dash

Nope, as I said it was just sunlight. Definitely no light there, as seen on every official pic on the Lotus website.

    Interior lighting on the dash

There will be no lighting. It’s just a reflection from the sun. You can see it in the area close to the touchscreen.
  39. F

Any idea which version is lightest weight ?

Don‘t know if you read the whole thread, but we already had a discussion about that. The reason for my concerns is that the Uni-Qs are placed very odd, right next to our knees. I already stated that KEF should be compared to Burmester rather than Bose. Another fun fact is that we will get...
