V6 FE dyno results and weight

That Subaru that you are talking about probably isn't a street legal '23 model year Euro 6 conform car, right? With the newest regulations, it is IMPOSSIBLE to make it sound good or even somewhat loud at all. Everybody should prepare for a big disappointment. The new A45 sounds not even 10% as...

V6 FE dyno results and weight

Haha, yeah. Maybe if it was a hatchback, I would be fine with such an engine. But not in a sports car. Good on paper, but that's about it. I drove it in the a class and it sucks up all emotions like a dementor from Harry Potter. Never felt an acceleration so fast, but yet so emotionless. To be...

If the system is not to my taste, I will try to rip the car apart to reach the dsp and see if I can connect it to a laptop, do some measuring and try to get better results. It should sit somewhere behind the luggage compartment behind the seats, probably just covered with some loose carpet.

V6 FE dyno results and weight

Really good info. I have some scales myself and weighing it will be the first thing I will do when I get it. I am quite happy with the results. Hits the numbers that Lotus advertised. If we find a way to loose 50 kilos and gain 50 hp, the car will really shine.

Boot hatch frame fills with water

Just a troll I guess… only because their are some glass fibers in the material doesn’t make it fiber glass. Would anybody consider calling reinforced concrete „iron“, just because there is .3% of rebar in it?

The Setup is well known: 3 Uni-Qs left, right and center. They are 2 way speakers in their own right. Then two woofers in the lower area behind the seats and two subwoofer drivers inside a single fresh air subwoofer „enclosure“ somewhere in the right back of the car. You can see that from the...

Video reviews by customers who are not forum members

The Supra also feels faster due to the way it delivers its power. I know the B58 and the initial punch is quite heavy, however there’s not that much more to come after that. A more linear power delivery will feel slower, even if it isn’t.

The respective woofer also has way more membrane area and a way stronger magnet system. A normal 8 inch woofer would generate 85db at 1W measured from 1 meter of distance. So 4W for 91db. In a car application you also don’t lose sound pressure due to the omnidirectional behavior of low...

Oh it makes sense, because buyers like big numbers ;) a KEF tweeter can approximately take 20 watts of power before the voice coil burns. And a 5 inch woofer in the LS 50 can take around 40 watts to reach his maximum excursion, more than that can physically damage the unit. All estimates, but...

    More details for KEF Audio

Power is certainly not the issue. 5-10 watts per channel should be enough power to go well above 90 db at your ears. Floor standing Hi-Fi speakers require around 1 watt of power to produce 87-90 db at a measuring distance of 1 meter. Some people still use tube amplifiers at home in high end...

    More details for KEF Audio

The KEF system is stated at 10 channels, not speakers ;) There is one UNI-Q (which technically counts as two drivers) in each door panel and one in the middle of the dash. One UNI-Q needs two channels, one for the tweeter and one for the mid woofer. There also is the subwoofer, probably driven...

A simple thing like reversed polarity could kill it all. It would result in a phase shift of 180 degrees and therefore one driver would do the exact opposite motion of the other. If one of the mid woofers is shifted in polarity, it would just obliterate the others frequency response. That's the...

@Israel_7 me, too. The speakers are driven by DSPs, and the programming of those can ruin everything. The DSP assigns the correct frequency spectrum to each driver, it corrects every drivers frequency response with eqs, adjusts the different distances from each driver to your ears with different...

Really odd that the the reviews differ so much. @Speedluvver for example has heard the big 6k Burmeister system (which is probably one of the top 5 systems out there) as a reference and says it's not quite there, but still very good. @1stczechemira on the other hand says it's worse than a cheap...

UK dealer demo cars - specifications

That was my thinking, too. I don't want to warm up the tires for road use. And that ultimate last bit of traction probably doesn't even add up to the fun factor when driving on public roads. I'll probably stick to the Goodyears. However I am thinking about which part of my config I could change...

UK dealer demo cars - specifications

That's interesting. In that case I'm considering the Cup 2s again, because I will only drive the car from March until October anyways. However another thing to consider is that the Cups 2 used to need some tire temperature to work properly. No problem on a track, but maybe kind of a thing when...

And so it begins.......When will Lotus follow suit?

Still looks like a child created it in it's lunch brake at kindergarten. That's the one big issue with the Corvette. C7 looked a hundred times better.

    Production line pictures

Maybe we just wait for the video, that might clarify it. Other than that, Harry (if the "VIP car" is his, which I assume) probably was one of the first persons to order the Emira anyways.

    Emira looks

It looks in absolutely no way like a Ferrari, not even proportions wise. The only things they have in common is the engine layout and that they look both good. However, the newer Ferraris look way over the top (which is ok, because they are).
  22. F

Anyone thinking twice about buying Emira?

To be fair, it‘s clearly obvious that this list is without any relevance. There a quite a few cars in the wrong order. Probably different drivers and different conditions as you said. Of course Lewis Hamilton can ride a GT63 2.5 ton AMG faster in the dry than an amateur could drive his GTAM in...

    Leather vs Alacantara?

Correct. The bad reputation comes from the cheaper Alcantara alternatives/fakes that are used for cheaper, higher volume cars, because most people don‘t know that it isn‘t the real Alcantara. Most don‘t even know that Alcantara is a brand in it‘s own, and not just a type of fabric. If you check...

    Leather vs Alacantara?

Then either one of them or both are using an Alcantara alternative. The BRZ probably has no real Alcantara due to costs. This Stuff here is the real deal and more expensive then most leathers are. Normally only higher or high end manufacturers use Alcantara, Lamborghini for example does...
  26. F

    Leather vs Alacantara?

There is no such thing as „good quality“ and „bad quality“ Alcantara. Alcantara is a brand name and they are very constant with their quality ;) Many manufacturers use different materials that try to copy Alcantara, like Porsche Race-Tex or Mercedes microfiber Dynamica. Some of them are good as...

    2022 v 2024 Model differences

GPFs are already required in the Eu since 2020. and if they are required here, US cars will get them as well because that‘s easier for Lotus. However the V6 doesn‘t need a GPF because as counter intuitive as it sounds, due to the port injection technology it produces less particulates than the...

    Anyone driven a Merc A45s?

I went to the Mercedes dealer some time ago and test drove a A35. My daily at that time was a BMW M140i xDrive and I was shocked at how bad the Merc engine was in comparison to the B58 engine. In fact comparison isn‘t even the right word. However with more power it should be a decent powertrain...

Anyone else daily driving a Tesla Model 3 Performance?

I also have a Model 3 Performance as a daily. Didn't drive it for roughly 2 weeks, only drove my Crafter and my MX-5 and I was shocked when I put the pedal down for the first time after two weeks. It's really super quick. However the 160 hp MX-5 is way more fun to drive 🤷🏻‍♂️ The Emira will be...

A warning for those in the UK thinking of delaying until March 23

If "someone" wants to delay his or her order, that shouldn't be an issue of course. But if everybody is doing it, because nobody wants the car in the winter, it's another thing. That's probably why you can't do it at all.

    Goodyear or Michelin durability ???

I also specced Sports with Goodyears and will definitely stick to it. The only advantage of the Cup2s is grip as you mentioned, grip that you don‘t need or even don’t want on the streets for having the most fun. If front end grip is a consideration and won‘t be good enough (which I highly doubt...

Anyone received their 30 day notification yet?

There is absolutely no compromise for Sports with Goodyears. The Goodyears just perform a bit worse on track than the Cup 2s, which is completely logic. They perform better in other areas like rain for example and they won't be worn out after 10.000km. Some forum members just made that whole...

    I4 Emira vs. 911 GTS…Fight!

It won't even sound closely like that. That's the old W176 A45 with another engine. The W177 A45 with the actual M139 engine isn't even half as loud as the old one, the pops and bangs are gone and all in all it just sounds like every normal car. I hope that Lotus will do better with the M139...

    First stirrings of deliveries

I was July delivery originally, then moved to September, then October. Now my dealer said that Lotus claims September delivery for me. To be honest I would prefer October or November for some reasons, but I think I don’t really have to worry about that :D

    Henry Catchpole - Carfection review

The Goodyears are one of the two best tires available on the market for the use case they are developed for besides the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s. Their use case simply isn‘t track driving.
  37. F

    Henry Catchpole - Carfection review

It's just a misconception. We heard a few times that Sports with Goodyears performs not perfect on track and Cup2s do a better job. That's logic, but that doesn't make it a bad setup. Touring with Goodyears performs even worse on track and still, no-one complains about that. If you want the best...

EU reprieve on low volume ICE cars until 2035

You might be right that there will be engines left, but didn‘t Lotus say that they will end the Emiras production in 2028 anyways? They won’t need an engine anymore by 2030.

Just buy the MX-5 and be happy ;) I have a ND with 160hp and every time I‘m driving it I‘m questioning myself why I‘m even buying an Emira 😅 It‘s just so much fun. I also have the sports package with Bilstein dampers and Eibach springs and this setup is perfectly comfortable yet very engaging...
