Lotus in the Peak, Derbyshire UK - 1-2 July

Really nice footage. The Elise and smaller Lotus cars make the Evoras and Emiras look huge!

That car is money. I've been looking at Evoras lately as well. So tempting :) Very nice purchase and can't blame you one second!

    Nürburgring Lap record?

That looks like an epic 8 minutes of fun. It is also quite a respectable time with having to pass other cars and with the added passenger weight. I'd bet it could hit well under 8 minutes without those factors which puts it up there in some fairly elite company in terms of Nurburgring records!

Being held to ransom with my own car

This is a valid argument. Does anyone have estimated delivery numbers in the UK and elsewhere to-date of the Emira? Just to throw out some ballpark/wild guess numbers, If they are producing ~20 cars per day for the last ~6 months, that's around 3,600 Emiras produced. Now Let's just say...

Being held to ransom with my own car

I agree, stories like this are truly worrisome but I do have to wonder how representative they are of the total percentage of owners out there since it's well known that happy buyers generally do not take the time to report their experiences nearly as much as those who are disappointed or...

I'm out - the cancellations thread

If you're losing sleep over the Emira it's probably wise to cancel. Same can be said for most investments in general ;)

    Property/Investment Chat

I think what @Porter is saying is that buying a real estate property (even a primary residence) is arguably a valid investment if it appreciates in value over time (which they tend to do, especially as of late). The fact that OTHER houses are also appreciating doesn't eliminate the added value...

    Atlantis Blue Photo Thread

I really like the Atlantis -- so much more depth than Seneca IMO and I might have gone with it over the Nimbus but unfortunately that ship has sailed. Look forward to seeing some photos of a finished car in that color, though!

Had the Emira 3 months it’s been in for repairs most of that time

@shaank just FYI your instagram links have a typo in them and throw TLS warnings since the TLS certificate is issued to facebook.com before the redirect happens to instagram.com ;)

Had the Emira 3 months it’s been in for repairs most of that time

Good to know and thanks for the clarifications. I'm not familiar with the UK-based costs but that makes sense. Stiil, a roughly 5% loss on reselling a new car is minimal in normal terms. I don't see any reason for the panicky sentiment. The idea of buying a new car and flipping it for...

Had the Emira 3 months it’s been in for repairs most of that time

Thank you, I stand corrected! £81,995 is the post-price increase for the V6. I don't know what the previous price was but it still does not appear that it would be far off from the £75,500 number which is still the lowest on Autotrader. I think the bottom line is that Emira demand in the UK...

Had the Emira 3 months it’s been in for repairs most of that time

I don't get why this keeps getting repeated in this forum. The lowest price on UK Autotrader that I find is £75,500 which I believe is several thousand above original MSRP and about 2K below the updated/increase pricing of £77,795. To me, the pricing makes sense and nobody is losing their...

Had the Emira 3 months it’s been in for repairs most of that time

100% agree. If those were in the U.S. they'd be gone in a day just based solely off the huge waiting list. I'd snatch one up for sure.

North American Emira Deliveries? (1/38th scale diecast)

You can order these on EBay (1:34, 5" long) for $22.98 + $5 S/H for a set of four. That's what I did after going to a couple CVS stores without luck. I let my 18 month old daughter play with them every now and then...if you pull them back on the ground they zip forward. Not sure about the...

    Everyday Driver Review - Emira/Cayman GTS/C8

Appearance being subjective, I'm SO THANKFUL they did NOT do the tail light like this. I can't stand cars with long, full length rear LEDs like this. To each his/her own, however.

    Everyday Driver Review - Emira/Cayman GTS/C8

Welcome to northern drivers :) New York drivers (and New Englanders in general) are generally considered by many to have more aggressive driving habits that outsiders might view as rude. It's quite a bit different down here in the South although the big trucks are still everywhere. If that...

The great big "all the customer test drives" thread

Great Review! You actually got me for a split second on the top part :) I think I drove that exact demo car down here in NC about 3 months ago as it looks identical and I think there are only about 5 of them rolling around. My test drive route wasn't the best but the car (to me) still got...

Emira high speed autobahn run, 0–60 tests, B road driving

This is highly encouraging to watch. The straight line speed isn't anything to write home about but it shows you what this car can do in corners which makes it look insanely fun to drive on curves. Taking some of those curves at ~100mph in the Emira looks like an absolute blast and this driver...

Cars and Coffee in Morrisville - British Themed!

That thing is sick! This was my first C&C but I definitely plan to try to go to them in the future. It was a blast and just exiting next to the 200+ people on the side of the road and revving it out to a bunch of people yelling "REV IT!" was actually super fun. It's going to be next-level...

Cars and Coffee in Morrisville - British Themed!

Well the event was really awesome. At least a couple thousand amazing cars were there from just about everywhere on the planet. Countless Ferraris, McLarens, Porches, and yes, many Lotus Evoras, Elises, and Exiges! Here are a few photos I snapped (I was carrying my 16 month daughter around in...

What if ... BMW engine in an Emira

I have gotten comments from several friends with more expensive vehicles with much bigger engines (BMW 650i, AMG S63) that said my comparatively humble 340i ZHP sounds significantly better than theirs. Engine/exhaust note is honestly the single biggest factor why I'm not a fan at all of EVs...

What if ... BMW engine in an Emira

If Lotus had somehow managed to put a BMW B58 into the Emira it would have been sick. The capabilities of that engine are remarkable and I LOVE how it sounds in my F30 with the M performance exhaust. 500WHP+ is fairly easy with just a few bolt-on mods and a couple thousand bucks. That said...

Sun visor - no mirror on drivers side

And yet I'd be willing to be 90%+ of the cars WILL be men driving with ladies in the passenger seat. This is absolutely a car targeted at the male market. It's reality, not sexism.

Owners: How much time have you spent unable to drive?

I am cautiously optimistic that many of these early adopter issues will be fixed in the US/NA versions, but only time will tell.

    Emira performance - disappointing?

That seems a bit over the top. Lotus is for anything but the wannabees. I'd say people drag racing their Tesla Model 3s or sliding their Hellcats off the roads would better fit that description than a true driver's car, even if it isn't as powerful as you'd hope it to be.

    Emira performance - disappointing?

The Emira and Evora are virtually identical in weight and size. Same engine, drivetrain, etc. So I don't think it is that simple. That's why I'm perplexed that the Evora runs 3.8 and people seem to have trouble getting under 5 seconds in the Emira.

    Emira performance - disappointing?

I've been wondering the same thing for awhile now. I haven't seen any clear explanations as to why the Emira seems to underperform vs. the Evora in terms of acceleration. It'll be interesting to see how it performs as it is delivered to U.S. buyers. Hopefully closer to 4 seconds than 5... I...

    USA/Canada Delivery Thread

I spoke to my dealer a few minutes ago and the word from them is still late Q4 2023-early Q1 2024 for first FEs in the U.S. but he also admittedly said they haven't heard any material updates from Lotus since the meeting in California in March.
