Harry's Garage videos - visit to Hethel and Matt Windle interview, Emira collection and drive

here’s what might happen with the second shift: demand subsides due to world factors and the high level of production is no longer needed. They still need to pay all employees for a while before laying them off. I would be careful and say turn it up to 1.5 shifts instead of two shifts. Or simply...

Emira Sports Car Of the Year

The the Emira the only car the UK has produced this year? It would only make sense. Otherwise, how can it be car of the year if people in UK have not received it and most of us haven’t even tested it. This whole thing is becoming more of a joke nowadays.

And so it begins.......When will Lotus follow suit?

I asked about this a while back and everyone was saying probably a slight increase. I highly doubt it. I feel like following all these delay emails, there will be one about price increase (even on the later batch of FE).

Sept '22 Article On Emira Delays

With all these delays, why can they not make more FE? Would make a lot of people happy IMO.

CAR Mag Sports Car Test 2022- YouTube Video

Still going to wait for test drive to make up my own mind, but I’m getting more disheartened by the day. It’s been mentioned many times: expectations were set, and Lotus came up short. The Emira is a dressed up car with a lot of old tech in it, whereas the competition has kept on improving over...

    Henry Catchpole - Carfection review

Everyone before Henry’s review: I cannot wait for his review. He is very objective and is a great reviewer. I am sure it will be positive and eases everyone’s minds. After his review: I don’t understand why they would give him that suspension setup (same question asked on Jethro’s review). It’s...

I'm out - the cancellations thread

I have been leaning towards getting a refund as well, but impatiently waiting for test drive before making final decision. It’s been a good while since the first batch of reviews. Why aren’t more coming to keep the excitement going? A good looking car with a bit of subpar performance, terrible...

    emira acceleration

Manufacturers typically under quote or over quote. Need to drive production version for myself and see. If it’s slightly slower but offers an amazing drive, then I can somewhat overlook the possibly underwhelming performance. If it’s significantly slower and I don’t like the way it drives, then...

    emira acceleration

Impatiently waiting for test drive. If performance/power disappoints, I’ll have no qualm about canceling reservations. I’ll call a spade a spade and will not make excuses for Lotus. As I said before, 0-60 does matter up to a certain point. If it was 0-60 in 10+ seconds, I bet everyone would...
  10. C

    emira acceleration

In short: I’ll be happy if the Emira does the stated 0-60 in 4.3 seconds or faster. IMO a $100K USD sports car should have such performance. It is not blisteringly fast but that is an acceptable range. If it’s going to be 5+ seconds, then it’s fallen short of the competition. There’s no other...

    emira acceleration

M2 is slow compared to what, the Tesla? If so, then I can understand. Otherwise, it should be quite a bit quicker compared to the Emira.
  12. C

    emira acceleration

    Define “slow.” lol
  13. C

    emira acceleration

Because you can’t. Emira is not fast. I guarantee you if it was super fast, people would feel the exact opposite. Speed does matter and while it’s not blisteringly fast, it hopefully will come within acceptable standards.

    Let's clarify the term "GT4"

Next Jethro review: we just happen to have a GT4 RS CS here… Emira Forum: it’s not fair! He shouldn’t have done that.
  15. C

    Let's clarify the term "GT4"

So once again we should not be comparing any Emira to a Porsche GT4. It’s not a fair comparison. Otherwise, it will frustrate the reader/watcher.

    Ferrari 296GTB V Lotus Emira

Test drove an F8 Tributo last year and a McLaren Artura few weeks ago. I came to the same conclusion: super fast and awesome cars but I would never ever use the power. I’ll also be worried driving it and parking it everywhere, not to mention the cost of maintenance and replacement parts. I...

How much will they jack up 2023 Base MSRP?

They could pull a Rivian and announce a 20% price hike due to inflation, piss off customers, and then backtrack.
  18. C

How much will they jack up 2023 Base MSRP?

Note to automakers: make a good looking car and forget the performance since people will still flock to it. I do wonder how many people will wish for better performance once the newness of the Emira wears off.

    Heat dissipation from engine bay

Is the engine fully open to the cabin? If so, I do wonder how much harder AC needs to work to counteract the heat going into the cabin.
  20. C

How much will they jack up 2023 Base MSRP?

It’s already essentially a $100K car + tax, title, and license here in the US for an FE V6 with automatic. Base editions will be cheaper. They’ll raise MSRP a few thousands for the MY23 would be my guess.

    Jethro addresses 'the review'

I’d like to point out that while 99% of us are not pro drivers, that doesn’t mean automakers shouldn’t make the best cars they can make. Heck, a Cayman GTS or GT4 is much more capable than what most of us can do, but they still make them that way, and we still love them. So I don’t want to hear...

This thread is such a click bait. Soooo frustrating. Lol

    Jethro addresses 'the review'

You’re right: everyone has their own bias, just like those who diss on Jethro. How do we “have no doubt” he is biased? Did he admit to it? He had an opinion and we can choose to accept it or not. What I’ve just now realized that people have already made up their mind in one way or another, and...

    Jethro addresses 'the review'

There we go defending Lotus again. If it was the company’s grand re-opening/launch with a last ICE car, shouldn’t it something phenomenal? If you fail, at least go out with a bang. Instead, it’s a bit of a lackluster product that’s supposed to be the new face of Lotus. If they didn’t anticipate...

    Jethro addresses 'the review'

I agree with this in the sense that people were expecting that Lotus magic and performance (things they’ve done so well with spartan interiors), coupled with good looks. THAT IS WHAT WOULD HAVE CATAPULTED LOTUS TO THE NEXT LEVEL. Instead, it’s a step backwards in terms of performance...

    Jethro addresses 'the review'

I have actually come to like Jethro’s first drive and comments. It’s a good reality check for all: Lotus, their cars, and fans. The fact that some members here continue to diss on Jethro while defending Lotus/Emira further solidifies his article. It’s similar to Apple fanboys being sheep...

Whatever happened to that Carfection Emira review?

Will there be more reviews vs first drives? Things are getting a bit stale and we need new blood!

    EMIRA in Bay Area CA.

For sure. I meant UK deliveries. Lotus needs to get demos to dealers worldwide. If it’s true we won’t see demos until November, then that’s just terrible. Didn’t Tom say that dealer demos have finished production? Or was that UK only?
  29. C

    EMIRA in Bay Area CA.

Really?! So we won’t get to test drive it until November? Dealer told me August or September or demos. November is really late when cars are already being delivered. Boy this timeline is terrible…

Anyone nervous about street-parking their future Emira?

As long as you’re not street parking it in San Francisco, you’ll be fine.

    ALCANTARA VS LEATHER

this is the way to go imo I would go with alcantara seats for the stitching, but keep in mind the spilling, etc.
  32. C

    ALCANTARA VS LEATHER

People’s opinions will differ. I have done research on this and you will find some for and some against alcantara. Personally, I would go with leather. Alcantara is something I’ve always thought of as cool and perhaps try out some day. Seeing how it can look dirty and does wear out quite quick...

Top Gear Photos with Chris Harris Track Testing

This makes me feel better about the car, but still need to drive it for myself. Doesn’t matter if it’s good or bad, one must test it out for themselves (just like how sometimes a movie is rated horribly but you end up liking it a lot).

What to try on your new KEF audio....?

Any sound system that Hotel California by Eagles sounds good on is good for me. I played it on an Acura RDX with their 360* studio ELS sound system a few years ago and it was phenomenal!
