It’s the rear tire. I wouldn’t do any serious speed without a patch. But every time I’ve used a plug it holds 100% for normal driving.

I just looked it up and it looks like you can inflate the tire using the tire compressor without using the sealant. Thank you for the tip!

I could try plugging it, but I don’t have a compressor to refill the tire. I’ve seen them do the plug and it looks super easy.

After my enjoyable cruise I come home to find a completely flat tire. Nail in the center of the tread. Normally I take it and get a patch. But since I can’t drive it I’m thinking of finding a mobile tire repair and just do a tire plug without removing the tire at all. I’ve never had an issue...

I looked it up over curiosity and that final assembly strategy doesn’t work. The cost of manufacturing needs to exceed 75%+ to avoid US tariffs. Final assembly could not account for that much. The other variable is that this could all change in 4 years.

We’re all just brainstorming out loud here. I would personally be concerned with water and debris ingress from the bottom. There is already forced air from one of the intakes. I assume better venting from the rear hood would be hugely beneficial. There is already good venting out of the rear.

The i4 was necessary to sell the emira in China and other Asian countries that tax by cylinder. I don’t think it was a bad move at all. China is the largest auto market in the world and geely owns a controlling stake in Lotus. They have to be able to sell their cars there.

I think the alternative is a more expensive Lotus. If it transitioned to the US, I would personally give it a year or two to understand how well it's manufactured. Feels funny saying that since the Hethel build has not been exactly issue free. Fortunately, mine has been fine.

A tricky gamble. For most cars I don't think origin matters. For sports cars or anything considered special I think it does. M3s should come from Germany, Ferrari's from Italy and so on. I don't care where my SUV is built.

Yikes. This sounds like some version of fixed costs being too high and sales velocity being too low to manage their cash flow. Incredibly challenging to operate your way out of it. Need another white knight or declare bankruptcy and try to recover.

This could be pretty cool and better than a CF hatch. If designed properly I don’t see it collecting any rain at speed. Only standing still which just means don’t park it in the rain.

Ironically, the billion dollar EV mistake is the only reason the Emira exists. Geely had no other reason to buy the badge but to promote their EV strategy.

I think the leading hypothesis is some kind of grounding issue or air pressure. It’s annoying but not unique to your car.

They don’t emphasize just how much faster the i4 is in outright acceleration. Otherwise great review. These guys are true driving enthusiasts.

If you got a good deal and knew you'd be going with a precut template, it is what it is. It will protect your car. you won't notice it at normal distances. it will pickup grime that you need to carefully wipe off the edges to avoid the film lifting. A better job will be custom (not template)...

I know we have conflicting reports but it makes sense that the OBD connection is required only for recording data or pursuing a custom tune for “your” car. Otherwise the JB4 is preprogrammed based off the donor car. Doesn’t seem logical to need the OBD for map2 but not map1. I’m in the don’t...

@Thirdgen89gta car sounds great. I didn’t even know you could get a thicker PPF but I would also do that in the front if I did it all over. I think I have one hit on the lower front that actually dented or chipped my paint through the PPF. Otherwise pristine.

I agree and would not add more tire yet. And in general I think more tire has as much to do with lateral grip as straight line grip.
