You pry them open so the little keeper tab inside of them clears the hole and they can then slide off.

    The inevitable faster Emira

The real problem is going to be cost. Considering that when the Emira was first announced, the base model was going to be £59,999, these new models are going to double that. That's going to move the Emira up into a different segment of the market. The R model you describe would be the most...

    Need help installing eventuri intake

If I remember right, the loom is zip-tied to clips that pry off just like the instructions say. It's been just long enough that I can't exactly remember now. Can you post a picture of them?

    $1149$ Oil change price

$300 an hour?? To change oil and a filter?? Man alive, I might have to come out of retirement and start doing oil changes. I'll give everybody a break; I'll do it in 2 hours at half the price. No it won't void your warranty if you do your own oil changes. Just keep your receipts to document...

That is obscene! You can do it yourself for less than $100.

    Dead Battery

"Almost as good" is not something I would trust for the Emira. It tends to be sensitive to voltage charge levels and battery performance. Go for the warranty claim.

GRP now stocking BanC Tech products! (Inc new Emira Bootliner)

I was thinking the same thing, but unless they modify the tray for it, I was just going to make a couple of slots at the bottom edge for the velcro straps.

    Dead Battery

I put the battery on the charger when I first got it to make sure it had a full charge, but haven't used the charger since then. I received my car in early May last year. I only finally put it on the charger again about a week ago, only because it's too cold to drive it. Temps are down in the...

    Best decision ever? Verdant Green

Yeah mine does the same. I use a leaf blower when I get home to blow the dust off the back of the car. I think the car builds up a static charge when driving, so that dust is magnetically attracted to the back because it's ridiculous how much and how fast dust accumulates there. My car is...

    Dead Battery

Got this one for mine; plenty of power, don't need to keep it on a trickle charger. Plus it removes about 30 lbs from the back of the car. The 40ah is plenty, and it fits right into the factory mounts...

    Emira for Assetto Corsa

Honestly that sound is terrible. It doesn't even sound like an actual car, it's just a synthesizer. I really hope this isn't the final sound. Did you drive anything else? Do they all sound like this?

Time for new tyres/tires - What are the new options?

Yes I've noticed that most of the time, the Emira noise level is fine. It's only when on certain types of asphalt, and grooved concrete freeways that the noise level changes to a roar.

Time for new tyres/tires - What are the new options?

I would be fine with the Goodyears if they weren't so darned loud on certain types of road surface. They literally roar to the point where you wouldn't be able to have a conversation on the phone if you needed to. My Alfa has Michelin all seasons on it and over those same sections of road...

2nd check engine light in less than 500 miles

The Emira is sensitive to battery charge level. If the Lotus supplied battery charger/tender is included with your car (it should be), it's not a bad idea to put the car on the charger when you get it, and let it fully charge.

How much will the i4 actually weigh?

Has to be the difference in tires for the V6. The Cup2 would definitely out-perform the Goodyear.
  19. Eagle7

How much will the i4 actually weigh?

That's 3,255 lbs., only 12 lbs. lighter than the V6 with manual. I'm assuming that's with a full tank. One of our members weighed his V6 and it was 3,267 lbs. (1,481.9 kg). I was expecting the i4 to be about 50 lbs lighter.

    Shift Knob Replacement

No. Haven't gotten that far. I've looked into it though, including figuring out how to do it. Spending close to $1,000 just to make a shift knob doesn't really appeal to me. If you have the means to do it, what would you charge? Even something like this; just wood with the emblem on top...

    📓 Journals Speedy Emira Build

Oh man... yours is such a beautiful build! It's a shame all the issues ruined the experience for you. I guess I got lucky; mine hasn't had any issues at all. I was really looking forward to seeing the development of your car, but if it isn't right for you, it isn't right. Though it's the...

    Ownership in the boondocks?

The closest dealer to me is 5 hours, so it's a 10 hour drive round-trip. This isn't my only car, so if there were an issue I won't be stuck, but so far (received the car early May) the car's been great. I did make the trip to the dealer for the water ingress recall and they did a couple of...

If you sold your EMIRA what’s next?

For me, a sports car is supposed to be fun; fun to drive and own. What you describe doesn't sound like fun at all, more of a worrisome burden. I don't daily drive mine either, especially now that I'm retired (I use/used my Alfa Romeo Giulia for that). I drive the Emira when I can though...

    Knocking sound front right.

The electric radiator cooling fan is in there. If your dealer is reasonably close, have them take a look at it, otherwise use the tool in the trunk service kit and open the front hood of the car. Could be the fan isn't tightened down properly, or there's something making contact with the blades.

If you sold your EMIRA what’s next?

The problem with calculators like that is they don't take into account gear ratios, especially the diff, or the power curve for the engine's tune. When I was hanging out with the Camaro crowd, there were guys that simply switched out the gearing in the diff from the factory 3.5 to a 3.9 or even...

If you sold your EMIRA what’s next?

My apologies on the derailment. For me, it's not about bragging rights, as the Emira is never going to be a 1/4 mile car nor were they ever that type of car, which is why I haven't and don't talk about 1/4 mile. For me the 0-60 performance is about the car's ability to dig out of a corner, and...

    Driving gloves?

I have lined gloves both in brown and black, which I've been wearing when it's cold. In the morning, the metal shift knob is like grabbing a block of ice. I have the leather steering wheel, and the combination of gloves and wheel is really good. I don't have to grip the wheel as firmly when...

If you sold your EMIRA what’s next?

When seeking to improved performance, most people think of adding horsepower which is the obvious choice. It's the quickest way, but as you know when you do that, you have to beef up other areas. That's basically the brute force method for increasing performance in a straight line. The real...

What did you do to your Emira today?

When I changed the oils (both engine and trans) and put Archoil 9100 in them, which is a friction modifier, the mechanical noise was noticeably reduced. For the engine I put Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W-40 (not the Euro spec which is for people who only change their oil every 10,000+ miles), and...

What did you do to your Emira today?

Okay weirdo lol, how long did this take you? And just from an engine start-up immediate impression, what kind of sound difference are you noticing inside? By any chance did you weigh one of those Hybrid 3-1 mats to see how much they weigh?

If you sold your EMIRA what’s next?

My car the way it is now should be down in the 3's. In order to get it down to a weight to power ratio of 7, that would include a total of 110+ lbs of weight reduction, with 53 lbs of that being unsprung rotating weight, and the Komo-tec 430 tune. Right now my W/P ratio is 7.64 (factory stock...
