Well today is the 2nd anniversary of me placing a £2,000 ‘deposit’ on the new Lotus Emira. I was always in for the i4 Base with a couple of extras so around £65k OTR. I loved the car and was keen to support the iconic Lotus brand. But here we are 2 years on with a second price rise in two months...

I‘m of a similar mindset given the expected new price of the i4 Base (c£70k + taxes). It’s moved a long way as we’ve sat patiently waiting for two years.

Up another 5%. If you lock in by 11 August and don’t change spec then ‘old’ price holds. This is for First Editions only. No news on Base model prices but if they follow the FE’s then 15% up making the i4 Base £70k not £60k

Latest exchange with Lotus Customer Care this morning confirmed that letter received this week is meaningless so no January 2024 build date. Is really beyond Lotus to maintain two lists of i4 customers, one for the FE and one for the Base model?!🤬

Oh yes despite the CEO ‘promise’ of the piece you’ll pay will be the price when you paid your deposit. They’ve just flat reneged on that.

My deposit was 14 July 2021 and I got the same email today saying Q1 2024 - who knows what is happening. It makes as much sense as it ever has on this journey. All I want to do is buy a car😅🤷‍♂️

That’s what I was told last week as well. Wasn’t massively reassured that the i4 Base ‘queue’ was as organised as it ought to be 🤷‍♂️

Does anyone know when we’ll start to see reviews of i4 and/or be able to test drive one? As a July 2021 deposit holder I’m hanging on to see if it’s as good as I’ve been hoping it will be for two years. Amazes me that anyone will cough up £70k plus on a car that hasn’t been tested yet.

As was Matt Windle’s video saying the price you’ll pay is the price quoted at the time you paid your ‘deposit’. Believe nothing.

Hard to argue with. The service has been dire coupled with the reversal of the price promise.

I rang 3 times last week and twice this week, tried Live Chat and emailed them twice. I spoke to and then visited the dealer, who were great, they tried but can’t get in touch with them either. To cap it all I got a reminder yesterday to pay the £3k configuration fee! Somebody pick the f’ing...

A letter that sums up my feelings exactly. The absence of a video from Matt Windle explaining and apologising for the retrospective application of the price rise is shameful. For his own integrity he should insist on doing it whatever his Comms Director says.

Which they have taken full advantage of. UK buyers short changed as given the option most, if not all, would have chosen the same protection as US&Canadian customers.

The summary of my conversation with Lotus this morning as a 14/7/21 deposit for an i4 Base - you’ve had my deposit for over 18 months and now you can’t tell me when my car will be built or how much it will cost. Yes that’s correct. Unbelievable.

14th July 2021 deposit for the i4. Original build date Apr 23 now Oct 23. Despite nearly two years loyalty and repeated delays now have to pay thousands more. Seriously considering pulling out now. Should have increased prices on cars ordered from say April this year. Very poor from Lotus.

Deposit down 14th July 2021 and waiting for the AMG i4. Test drove the V6 on Saturday and still very much ‘in’. Any news on when we’ll be seeing the i4 at dealers and reading road test reviews? June?

I was luckier with the test drive and the car lived up to my expectations. Debating whether to do factory collection or home delivery. Counting the days until October!

I’ve got my test drive with JCT tomorrow morning. I’m going for the AMG so thought I’d better let the V6 boys go first😅. Have an October build date and also leaning towards DV but not seen one in the metal yet. Which delivery option have you gone for?

14th July 2021 deposit and given an October 2023 build date - 27 months wait. I appreciate all the challenges and reasons for the delays but this is stretching it. I hope they’ll hold the price for those who have already ordered and apply any increases for new orders going forward. If not many...

I have been wondering about this as well. If all the front vents are designed and needed for cooling and aerodynamics- as described in a number of videos - then where does the front plate go. Be nice if you could just have one of those small ones you see on the old Alfa’s.
