Message from Matt Windle regarding Emira delays

"...buy in more parts" = harder to source the volume they need - though more clout to get priority. Lotus's problem will be getting priority with parts vendors given low volumes, but availability would presumably be easier. Wonder how it works internally within Geely, how they prioritize...

nope, looks like 6600rpm in track mode at 7000rpm it'd be breaking the UK speed limit in 2nd gear

I thought the cup2s are treacherous in the wet? Sure Chris could handle it, but you'd expect to see more driver input and the car very twitchy. Must have been on the GYs?

in most driving situations shifting around 2000rpm is most fuel efficient - is this true of this engine too? In town there's no reason to shift any higher if that's the case. The redline / near redline is only for those moments on the open road.

Message from Matt Windle regarding Emira delays

i'm hanging in there, but let's just say many Emira's down in funds since I placed a deposit and it's getting ugly out there with recent central bank rate hikes...can easily believe there'll be less interest and depositors dropping out as a result

Well historically this is a European religious perspective later compounded by evolutionary theory, the thinking from that heritage continues today of course. They acted accordingly for a good 1000 yrs or so, they were creative but also incredibly destructive and ultimately hopelessly...

Agree with many of your points. But I don't think fusion is that easy to crack - billions poured in and I could generate more kW with a bank of hamsters on wheels. Imagine how many hamsters you could get for those billions, the poo could be used as fertilizer solving 2 world problems at once...

Trouble with climate change is it appears on a backdrop of deception and lies that governments tell their people in order to keep them fearful and legitimise their existence - you need a good story if you're going to extract peoples wealth and enrichen a narrow section of society at the expense...

6600 is pretty low for a petrol engine in a sports car...shame if this was driven by emissions alone. No driver is cruising at 6600, they're on the way to the redline say 7000, so at most 2 secs are spent in this band and the impact would be minimal. Completely unqualified comment of course...

This suggests there is a uniform distribution of resources, whereas as we all know it is not even close to uniform. a very small number of people are responsible for disproportionate use of resources. Reducing the population will do nothing, since those people who are driven to maximise their...

    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

Just watching the EVO review on the Artura, Jethro describes the weight 'thanks to obsessive light-weighting' as a 'hell of an achievement'. At 1498kg din, it's heavier than the Emira. Of course it is an achievement given it has an e-motor + batteries, but it's interesting how subjective the...

    Emira event in Melbourne

pedals seem further apart for h&t vs. the Evora. its nice to be able to just tilt the foot to h&t but I suppose the spacing is the same for manual and auto, I expect they don't want drivers hitting the wrong pedal

    Compromises

All this talk of cars holding their value - I'm confused about one point. In the UK I'm paying 20% VAT (sales tax to you 'merikans). So roughly 15k of the purchase is just tax. Of course in reality it's a lot higher since I've already paid 40%+ tax on the income but that's another story. So the...

    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

I think the truth of it is somewhere in between - ie. a more usable, better looking and dynamically slightly improved Evora is all they need to do and it's a hit with the existing enthusiast and new buyers. That has it's own appeal vs. a Cayman. But if instead it's blunted vs. the Evora and a...

    Perspective on reviews

To be fair they did ask for the Cup2s but Lotus where not able to provide them - They probably wanted Lotus to deliver to Anglesey, a long way from Hethel. Also its not just Jethro, Henry C. also notes the Emira's characteristics at 8/10ths on his drive across the Alps. But hitting 8/10ths on...

it's clear many of us were expecting an Evora GT with upmarket interior and supercar looks and that's not what we're getting. We may be the minority. Perspective on reviews

Can't equate how technically good a car is with how much you'll enjoy driving it. Cars like an Alfa 8c are the epitome of this - owners absolutely love them, but the reviews were dreadful, just watch one of the early reviews vs the later ones.

    Motortrend Review

It would have been more useful to compare the gear shift and clutch weight to the Evora rather than the Cayman. ie. is it simply no better than an Evora in which case it's perfectly workable but just not as clean as the Caymans shift.

    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

According to the Lotus guy who arranges the press cars I spoke too at the roadshow at B&C, they benchmarked against the Cayman GT4 and M2 as well as the Evora (don't remember models) at Hethel and they engineered it to come out on top, he'd driven all of them. But I guess this could mean a lot...

    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

Summary across reviews (video and written): not as capable as a Cayman, and less exciting than an Evora, but still fun on the road. Well that's good enough for me, the comfort and quality is sufficient compensation for rounding the edge off the Evora, but only just. But to be honest its the...
