Plus here in CA it's a pain to have to reverse these for smog testing.

We must live in a different SF Bay Area. Smooth roads?! I'm ok with sports after the test drive but our roads are kind of crappy. I guess UK ones are terrible.

I think the Emira is much nimbler. But it's not Elise or Exige. So you have to decide how nimble/agile/light you want and the associated trade offs. I'm thinking seriously about a 992T for daily and long commute 2x a week. The señora will be the fun weekend car.

Totally agree. Unless you can PPF it yourself, I doubt you'll save a lot. Maybe just the ability to reverse it is worth the optionality.
