Let's talk about the new bonnet/hood seal

#forthebonnetgap I took the Lotus guy over to it and said this can’t be final can it. He said no. Apparently the final one will sit a fraction proud of the bonnet for wind noise.

    Goodwood - updates and info

Just spoke to CS desk here. I am now September build/October delivery. Was July/August. Seats in yellow car are not final apparently. For UK buyers there is going to be a test drive roadshow by HQ, alongside dealer test drives. Apparently they have around 4,000 test drive enquiries. Gear...

    Goodwood - updates and info

My guess FWIW is it's just the current company/PR line, it's consistent with the message in the Matt video and the 'first production car ready for delivery' in the background. They've probably all been given a positive half-truth to say / told not to say the first June deliveries might be August...

Goodwood Festival of Speed 23-26 June

It was a complete coincidence but the shadow grey car pulled in to park just after I'd put my deposit down. For a bit of fun I thought I'd try a little YouTube 'video title experiment'.

    AutoTrader Review

In my frogeye the steering wheel is to the left of the middle of the seat and the pedals are off to the right. It's completely bonkers. You drive with your shoulders pointing the opposite way to your hips. Then you notice the right side of the steering wheel is tilted in to the dash a touch. We...

    AutoTrader Review

Hotizontal tachos were ‘the fashion’ on motorbikes for a bit, my Ducati dash is the one on the left here. I guess to save space but they’ve reverted to round design more recently. I didn’t’ like it to start with but it does work pretty well and is fun to chase the revs with once you get used to it.

Anyone received their 30 day notification yet?

I had an email just now from CS saying I am currently still August delivery (originally July), if there is a delay I will get a call from CS or email from factory. I've waited 40 or so years to own a Lotus so a bit longer is not a deal breaker for me. Whenever it arrives I will count myself...

Top Gear Photos with Chris Harris Track Testing

It was more of an emotional overview/review than an in depth comparative analysis or full mechanical deep dive. I took it as high praise for Lotus values being present and correct. Hard to describe but I think you will enjoy it all the more for that.

    Last of the V6s - 2024 Emira 430 Cup

I'm at 'Tunerfest' this weekend. My 17 year old son lives for this stuff. I'm too old but it's cool to see the enthusiasm and I get the sheer fun of it a bit. I keep telling him our GR Yaris has more than enough power and the Emira at 400bhp and a shortish shift will pretty much be the perfect...

    Curveball

I think it's a commendable idea. Older stuff is cool in my eyes. I'm mildly annoyed with myself for not being brave enough to stick to getting the Exige I always wanted. But prices on those being same/above the Emira made the decision a bit easier. The Evora design doesn't do it for me but I...

    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

If Sport is comparable to GR Yaris (Harry) and comparable with GT410 Sport (I test drove to help make decision between Sports and Touring), then I can't see how Sport can be described as too soft for the road. I drove my Yaris to the test drive and it is a touch harsh/busy on bad roads at slower...

    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

Having slept on everything from yesterday, today I realised all that matters is does it feel as if it will still meet MY expectations. 1. Will it feel to me like a modern day Esprit (007 car was a boyhood dream and test drove one in my 30s) Answer = yes. Biased or not, Harry's remark that it is...

    Andrew Frankel’s review

I felt the same tinge and thought process. Started me thinking the FE for a couple of years or so, then swapping to an ‘ultimate Emira’ as last petrol car would be a option. I equate flappy paddles to quickshifter on bikes, they’re a bit silly but quite fun.

    Andrew Frankel’s review

He comes across a bit more negative in the podcast compared to the written word: Not that it matters to me. The more I read and watch today, the more it makes me think Lotus has similar traits to Ducati, Porsche to Honda. I would never buy the later two despite knowing they are easier to...

Waiting for the reviews Shed reveal!

A little something to look at whilst counting down the minutes. After putting deposit down at Goodwood a year ago realised I needed to extend the garage. Just need the Emira to fill the gap now.

    First review

Re. “It's mostly operating so far within itself that it has lost some of the traditional Lotus cornering involvement. You don't feel enough nuances of the tires working beneath you." Not too dissimilar to what some said about the GR Yaris, in that it’s so stuck to the road a Fiesta ST is more...

    Early review teaser!

I'm away but hoping to see the jiffy bag on the mat when I get back. Agree these things do make so much difference. Might be enough to make me opt back to dealer delivery. I said I was undecided when I had my confirmation call the other day, as after a good conversation it became apparent...

June delivery delay - Lotus now says July…

I had my call from Alex today too. Literally whilst I was hanging some Emira pics up in the shed (this was just the mockup). Usual drill checking delivery preferences, private plate, etc. I was an early on 9th deposit. He said should be mid maybe late August delivery. It's countdown time!
