An Emira that is available to drive? I'm going to be headed in that direction this weekend towards Boone from Raleigh. I'd be so tempted to try to swing by there on the way home.
I e-mailed my dealer here in NC asking for confirmation as well but with this level of specificity, it's hard to imagine it's fake news this time around. Excited, but crossing fingers :)
Apart from the AMR Vantage version, I don't believe so. I had been looking at them a bit lately and AFAIK they only did the manual for the AMR version of which I heard only around 200 were produced in the US (since 2019). Good luck finding one.
Apologies in advance for my likely perceived laziness but I've been traveling and haven't had time to check this forum. Are we looking at continued delays for NA deliveries based on reliable sources? I was really hoping for a December delivery. Is that now a pipe dream?
Awesome shots! I was JUST looking for such a picture today when my dad asked me what color I had ordered and I couldn't find anything like this. Perfect timing and thanks for sharing, @TomE!
The absolute last thing I want in the Emira (or any Sports car) is lane assist. I detest that "feature" in my wife's SUV. Every time I go to merge on dotted lines on an onramp (not even changing lanes per se) it fights me with the steering wheel and to me is borderline dangerous, especially...
Happy for you! I have to be honest...I kind of chuckled at the thought of an Emira driving around Tasmania before we can even get one in the US! Enjoy the car mate!
There are at least 2-3 others in the Raleigh area on this forum so I think we're roughly half a dozen strong! I met some of them at Cape Fear back in March. Check out the regional forum! It will be a blast to all meet up once we finally have our Emiras in the 'near' future!
Hey Jack,
I spoke with Shane who owns runs the new Lotus Cape Fear dealership in Wilmington, NC and asked about this earlier this month. They have plans to bring a dealership to Raleigh but if it does happen, it likely won't be until late 2025/early 2026. Hopefully we'll all have our Emiras...
I live in North Raleigh and sometimes commute to North Hills where my org has an office. I see at least 5-10 Caymans/911s every commute and that has been a huge detractor for me to consider one. I even went and test drove a 911 T at Leith Porsche in Cary and while it was fun and was an...
I was about to say, buying this car really shouldn't be a huge financial decision. If it is, then it's most likely a bad move. Buying this car is purely an entertainment play. Let's hope the price is worth the fun! :)
I went with exactly Harry's spec as well after much angst and thought. If the diamond cut wheels had at least the outer perimeter all silver I think it would have looked great. Can't get past the lack of circular cohesiveness of the diamonds. All I see is "flower power" or "e-tron" for...
As a preface, I haven't owned any comparable cars to the Emira like many others on this forum. I've always been a very financially-minded person and so the Emira is a bit of a splurge for me (albeit because of that mindset, a now easily affordable one). So take that into consideration as I...
Yeah, as much as I want to immediately go for ~450bhp I'll wait until it's out of warranty. That 3rd cat delete + Milltek valve controller will happen immediately, however :)
Congratulations @jamesbxxx! I have what appears to be the exact same spec on order! Please feel free to share any/all pictures or vids you can for those of us on the other side of the pond eagerly awaiting to share in the Emira experience :)
Really enjoyed the review. It renewed/reinvigorated my excitement for the months ahead. Jay has a nice, subtle way that he reviews cars that gives him some real believability. It's like he's just your neighbor across the street enjoying cars that are made to be enjoyed. Loved it.
Thanks! I incidentally just heard it watching Harry's latest update a few minutes ago and figured I'd have an answer waiting for me back here as well :)
You and me both! I was at a local Cars and Coffee this morning and among at least 1,000 cars here in Raleigh I could only spy 3 Lotus cars. An Evora and two Elise. It'll be a blast taking the Emira :)
These seem like very high prices. I got a quote from my current insurance company (National General - a subsidiary of Allstate) for a 2020 Evora GT about 6 months ago and they said it would add $50/month to my existing policy with my BMW 340i and an SUV. Two drivers and my driving record is...
@SmallerBaller, I just wanted to say that I've enjoyed reading your takes on this journey and appreciate what I consider to be objective feedback in a world where bias typically rules the day.
I don't doubt that the 5.2L V10 in the R8 trounces the Emira in a straight line and that 'hit it on...
I noticed that 2nd gear goes to around 65mph but it seems lots of the 0-60 runs I've seen they shift into 3rd prematurely. I'd be interested to see a 0-60 pull without a 3rd gear shift. Might be a bit closer to the 4.3 seconds claimed.
I couldn't help but think the same thing. If these guys daily the Emira more than the stable of other much more expensive cars at their disposal, we're in for a real treat :)
I drove the touring and switched to sports based on my very limited experience and others' feedback in the US who had the chance to drive the sport suspension on U.S. roads. I think the UK roads merit touring but from most of the people I've talked to in the US, they say sports is better. I...
I wish they had offered a gunmetal option with a silver outside edge or something for contrast. That would have been an easy choice for me. I think these would look amazing on Nimbus:
I think black wheels can look more aggressive/sporty in some applications but in general I've always preferred at least some contrast/brightness in the wheels. Deep down I've always felt black wheels remind me of plain-old black steel wheels on older base model cars. Obviously this is all...
It's a good thing most US states don't run their business the way California does or they'd all be bankrupt. I imagine if CA wasn't an issue then we'd all have gotten our Emiras by now.
Original one was here which was the Cayman GTS 4.0 vs. C8 vs. Emira. I won't spoil it on which one they chose as the best.
I guess they loved it so much they wanted to do a solo video of it and drive it a bit more in those canyon roads :)
Sounds amazing. I imagine after a 3rd cat delete it's going to be even more insane. Has anyone done that yet or is every worried about emissions/warranties over across the pond?
