The world's first Lotus Emira I4 ECU

This is going to be awesome but I think for now it’s only available as a bench flash which means sending your ecu to China so without a drivable car for a bit. Now in the US and their hostility towards imports, who knows if US customs would hold it up even longer when receiving it back lol

Wonder if Lotus will actually sell new ECUs to customers, then we could do a straight swap.

They do, but they are locked, so what for?

We could just purchase an 'second ECU' and send that one out to be modified vs having a useless car until the ECU has returned.

You can buy an ECU from a salvage auction or eBay - but I think it needs to be cloned to yours to work (I guess this requires unlocking) - so (I think) you'd still need to send your original ECU with the duplicate to China... I guess the advantage here is you'd have your original (untuned) ECU to swap back if needs be

Has anyone checked if your vin is in the ECU? I ask because I see the vin in the infotainment screen.

I just dropped mine off for bench tuning today here in Dubai. Staying a bit more on the conservative side though. At least at first. Tuning to the 420’ish horsepower the engine comes with in AMGs

i already priced out a spare ECU from my Part Dept manager and it wasnt as bad as I thought it would be. $1308.19 OTD, she said she can get it in 2-3 days if needed.

They reliably make big power in Benz applications. Its fully built motor.

My concern would be Dubai temps and airflow.

I don’t blame the car. My performance suffers greatly with ambients like that

Yes, 470 hp and 600+ Nm should be no problem, but I’d probably need some cooling upgrades to get that consistently here. Starting off slow, we can always take a step up later.

Going from 360 to 420-430 is a good first step for me 😁

Wow, in my mind I was expecting $3-4k. Really makes this viable option for most people.
