Help with CEL P2CEF code

Dropped off at Lotus last Monday. Got an update today; they are starting with swapping the thermostat which should be here by the end of this week.

Just curious, how many members own an i4, and how of those are having this issue? Trying to get some data on percentage of engines having this problem.

Picked mine back up from service Thursday afternoon. Drove 225 miles to get home and the car was flawless. Replacing the pair of thermostats followed by vigorous test drives seems to have done the trick. Time will tell but currently I'm confident in the work that was done to sort this issue out.

got the car back yesterday. No CEL after 60 miles of driving, but they did not follow the TSB per Mercedes. They only flushed one time and only replaced one thermostat. We shall see…. In the mean time I’m gonna swap out the down pipe and install the JB4 tomorrow. (Hopefully)

How long was your car out of service?

I'm over 40 days and still not fixed.

Wait a few weeks, replace something, that doesn't fix it
.... wait a few weeks replace something else, that doesn't fix it
... wait a few weeks replace something else
... no end to this....

Abysmal after sales customer experience.

Seems parts supply chain for the I4 is seriously constrained; I'm not sure if this is a broader problem in the auto industry or specific to Mercedes parts

Mine has been in the shop since May 20th and I should get it back this week. They are replacing both thermostat and hopefully a flush.

I have a similar timeline. It’s been down for about 30 days in total after 3trips to service. The first trips to the dealer they claimed they couldn’t reproduce the CEL code. They did say the supply chain has slowed down lately in parts. Mine took a week longer than anticipated by Lotus. Did they do one thermostat at a time for yours?

Man seeing so mani I4s down makes me sad, its terrible for their value. As a V6 owner, i drove a friends I4 and its an awesome set up for the price and for someone who is not a manual enthusiast. Hope Lotus resolves all the issues instead of coming out wt bunch of bs editions.

Both thermostats replaced at same time I think.

Then coolant pump raised an error and they said that would be replaced.

I think pump was replaced (I'm not clear on that point), and now still getting coolant pump errors.

Was informed they now want to replace 'Temperature Control Module' but I am not sure if their is such a thing;
they might have meant Coolant Temperature Sensor.

Got the car back today. They replaced both thermostats. Not sure if they did a flush. Within a mile the CEL came back on. Service tech was off today. Lotus of DC only has one tech I believe. Ran the OBD scanner and it says 0 codes but the old P2CEF code still showing. Is this a false code that was never cleared since the scanner read 0 codes?

My 2c, if the CEL came back on, take it back to the dealer and don't try to second guess if their is a problem or not.

That sucks. And +1, if the CEL is on, take it back.
