Has anyone adjusted their headlights? I had my first night drive this weekend and the low beams do not project very far at all. I can bring it to the dealer but if there's a way to do it myself that would be ideal.

Posting I would be looking for the same. My mountain roads don’t have lights so I sit with high beams most nights having to toggle between the regular and high beams. Agreed the regular lights are really short in terms of reach

FWIW, I totally agree with both posts above, but have found that since the Emira is such a low car, no one has ever flashed me when keeping high beams on all the time. Not the best solutiion, but if no one is complaining, why not.

There's an adjustment access hole on the inner fenders inside the front. You have to lift up the front hood. There's one on each side of the car.

Headlight adjust.webp

I did it when I first got my car, because the left headlamp was lower than the right. You adjust it with a hex wrench. I can't remember exactly what it was, but it may have been either an 8 or 10mm. To raise the headlights, turn the screw towards the interior of the car. On the left side of the car, that will be counter-clockwise, on the right side it will be clockwise.

If you have a level driveway, use the garage door to see the light pattern so you can match them. Otherwise, find someplace where you can project the beams on a wall to see the light pattern. You want to be about 10-15 feet back from the wall. Measure the distance from the ground to the center of the headlamp on the car, and then match that height on the wall where the beam is projected.

For example, on my car the distance from the ground to the center of the headlamp is 27 inches. Put a piece of painter's tape at that same height (27 inches) on the wall, then adjust the beam pattern so the top of the pattern is no higher than that. To be safe, adjust it just a bit below the line because over a distance the beam height becomes greater and greater the farther away.

Excellent,
Between this and the pressure plate for the reverse getting stuck I have a weekend of DIY coming up.

Thx for that.

Thank you. Great write up.
