Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

Lotus CS in "haven't got a clue" shocker....is anyone surprised? :ROFLMAO: Here's hoping they got rid of the right people in this week's "restructure"!

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

Micro blisters magnified by the PPF? They look like tiny pinholes before bigger blisters appear.

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

I know of an early car that was sent back to Hethel to have all panels except the roof replaced. However, it has developed blistering once again, indicating that the production process has not been improved to resolve the issue. Regrettably, it seems to be more of a "when" rather than an "if"...

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

The issue existed long before the Exige was introduced, it's an issue with fibreglass/composites that they have never managed to resolve.

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

The Exige that I had before my Emira developed paint bubbles after 2.5 years it was approved as a warranty claim and the rear end was painted for sale when I traded it in. The Emira developed bubbles within a couple of months...so much for the state-of-the-art production line and paint facilities.

Dents over top of roll bar?

The Emira on the stand at the Goodwood Festival of Speed a couple of years ago had very noticeable indentations on the roof. It wasn't a great look for Lotus as they attempted to convince the attendees that quality issues were a thing of the past.

Hazard Lights Automatically Activate with hard braking

Indicators flashing under heavy braking is normal in most cars these days. It's promoted as a safety feature to warn vehicles behind that you are braking heavily. It normally self-cancels when you drive away.

    "Small" racing helmet

The ONLY helmet you should buy is one that correctly fits your head. The only way to find the right option is to try on many helmets to see if they fit properly and only then check whether they offer enough clearance inside the car. Bell Helmets tend to be relatively small-shelled for a given...

    Buying used?

As instructed by Lotus, my car had a new battery fitted and the software updates applied. Unfortunately, the issues remained and new issues appeared on my drive home from the dealership. I have seen 4 recently built cars here in the UK and 3 of the 4 had paint bubbling to varying degrees. You...

Rejection after 6 months - UK - Anyone done it?

Based on my experience, it's about clearly communicating what you want to happen rather than waiting for them to proactively come up with sensible solutions.

What does it do better than supercars?

The Emira costs less to buy and run, the rest comes down to personal preference and what you want to do with the car. An Ariel Atom would win in all the above categories if it never rained and you had little need for comfort.

Had wheels painted black. Will they ever look as good as factory painted (gloss) wheels?

When done correctly, paint or powder coating can match or even exceed the quality of factory finishing. It's easy enough to put right, just make sure the next place does them properly...fully stripped, meticulously clean, then the finish applied and cured.

    Buying used?

If the car is from an approved dealer and they are prepared to fight your corner, you might be lucky...otherwise, it can be a costly fix to get it done properly.

    Buying used?

I bought a new Exige in 2018 and it needed the rear painted in 2020 due to blistering, it's an issue that can take some time to appear, but it goes from bad to worse once it starts.

Rejection after 6 months - UK - Anyone done it?

I feel your pain. It took me months to reject my Emira, but I learned that persistence is key. Be under no illusion that it's on you to kick them every step of the way. I still don't understand why so many people are experiencing so many faults with these cars, despite the claims of...
