Thanks for your response. I’m based in the US. You can buy a base 992 easily, they’re just expensive. Before the Emira the plan was always a 911. I’m curious why you’re holding out for a 992.2 specifically. I’m not sure what the mid cycle update will include, so I’m curious. Especially as I’m...
Just curious, why have you been waiting for the 992.2? I still have my Lotus deposit, but am awfully close to getting a 992 instead after 2.5 years and a delay until “sometime in 2025”.
ECU mods would have to be off/removed/restored to stock before doing so.
Re: exhaust my understanding is that any 3rd cat delete or similar would not pass CA smog.
It’s going to be really hard to not tune it before the warranty is up. That acceleration is plenty for me. We all know that this was never meant to be the quickest car and that’s not the point, but for $100k I didn’t want it be a slow outlier.
Likely wishful thinking that it comes for the I4, but the polestar tune on my XC90 didn’t void the warranty and made a massive difference in the driving experience. I’d happily pay a few thousand for a warranty preserving tune to bring it up to the Chinese spec 400hp.
Well it’s not technically delivery news, but it falls into the progress camp:
My i4 allocation came up and I just submitted my spec to my dealer in California.
I want an auto, but the c8 is hideous. And I can’t wear new balance shoes to work. Don’t want a Cayman. If Lotus can’t come through it’ll be a used 992. Very concerned and puzzled aboit the laggy DCT, on top of the detune.
That was exactly the premise on which I chose the I4. My presumption would be that it’d be quicker and sportier than the V6 auto, and I’d only be giving up sound. If that’s not the case, I may have to get an V6 auto. Still doesn’t make sense to me given the A45S characteristics and reviews.
Cuz I want a DCT not a torque converter. Also, the M139 is a torque monster. I’m rather bitter about it being detuned. Respect to the manual crowd, but that’s what I want on this car.
Wasn’t that adage created because GM couldn’t make reliable turbos in the 70s?
I’d rather have a modern turbo 6 than a Cadillac 16 in any car I’m driving.
