Lotus will no doubt be in administration before long, assets then bought by another Geely company everything and shifted to China. Perhaps the design team will stay in Britain.

All debt wiped out, all assets bought for pennies on the £, no expectation to honour any warranty on previously sold cars.

If Geely intend to continue selling anything under the Lotus brand then there's no way they can just abandon current owners.

As a business/financial decision it is a logical thing to do. First time owners of Lotus who bought into the Emira will no doubt not buy another Lotus and look for something else in time, those who appreciate the Lotus brand and its history will still buy.

Geely have sunk massive amounts of cash into the brand and seen nothing but losses and headaches. Shifting production to China could produce a price reduction of the Emira to the price point it was initially announced at. Drop the EVs from the range completely and focus purely on ICE sports cars. I can see it becoming another MG quite easily, almost died but the last decade has seen a revival of the brand.

I understand your point now, but lotus has been down this road numerous times before. It's a brand I doubt any owner would want to abandon.

For a 1st try the Cyberster got pretty good overall reviews, not sold as an outright sports car but has the speed, looks and equipment. Under £60k with 7 yr warranty. I imagine their next revision will up the anti and I've been told that ICE are back on the table.
