Tapping noise

Hi guys, two weeks into ownership, love this car!
From day 1 there’s a gentle light tapping noise in the cabin, coming from somewhere behind steering wheel, behind instrument cluster. Difficult to be precise. Erratic, no pattern. Driving style doesn’t seem to make any difference.
Irritating! Any ideas?

Does the tapping happen only when the car is moving or also when it's stopped? I assume it doesn't happen when the car is off, correct?

If your right, the tapping should become weaker each day and eventually cease.

Does the tapping happen only when the car is moving or also when it's stopped? I assume it doesn't happen when the car is off, correct?

Only when driving. Can’t seem to make it happen on command as it were. Or detect any cause and effect. Odd. I did wonder if it’s part of the trim settling down but it’s more a tap than a squeak!

Maybe a wiring loom plug connector not secured down, just waving around close enough to something to make light contact? 🤷‍♂️

Just pop the dash off and have a look... 🦆

I feel I have had this exact noise, difficult to explain but as you said there doesn't seem to be a pattern, and doesn't happen every time I drive the car. FYI this started happening at around 1500mi 😅

Think I have it too, not all the time and to me it sounds like a relay clicking behind the dash but can’t imagine those old school relays are in use anymore?

While driving have your passenger wedge their fingertips into somewhere along the back glass and the trim and then firmly pull forward. It seems to have "come loose" somewhere and vibration constantly produced noise I had trouble pinpointing. Doing this fixed it. You can do it stationary but driving helped me immediately hearing the change.
Not sure if this covers anyone here, but maybe give it a shot.

That sounded like a loose clip. Good tip for those experiencing rattles!

Bit late but you're correct, you will be able to hear relays clicking behind the passenger footrest

Talking of sounds, when I get into the car and it's very quiet I hear a heartbeat from the engine, seriously, it starts as soon as I open the doors and ignition isn't on, it beats at about 65bpm. The thing has a pulse.

I heard this as well this morning - after locking myself in to get rid of the parking brake error

I heard this as well this morning

Had the pleasure of hearing this again today while waiting for the parking brake and it seems to be coming from the subwoofer. I did record it, I'll try to make it audible and post it here.
