Drivers side rear speaker (not door speaker) on my Emira has started blowing. The car has the upgraded sound system.

I am looking for the correct part number for the drivers door speaker used with the upgraded system, and whether it is supplied as an individual speaker or as part of a larger door assembly.

Useful to know if this is a common issue and how it is typically handled under warranty.

Subwoofer? People say it sounds blow when the windows are open and there is supposedly a software update.

Are you out of warranty? We can help identify part numbers but we need to know exactly which speaker has gone bad.

Mine sounds terrible (really terrible) - the subwoofer I mean - and it has since the day I drove it home from the showroom.

I'm 12 months in now and still trying to get it fixed.

Sounds like the subwoofer behind the driver's seat (UK) is torn, but only if the window is not up (i.e. can be down just a touch).

The extra air movement makes it unlistenable to, as the subwoofer base and rattle overwhelms everything else - and volume has nothing to do with it as it even happens when it's quiet.

It was in for 10 days and they eventually told me it's just how it is - but it isn't as I know a few owners who don't have the issue.

If I ever get it sorted I'll post what's been done (nobody seems to have posted a fix).

Mine is the same way, I haven't gotten any of the updates which apparently helped some of these issues.

I'd be amazed if software updates can fix this as it sounds very physical (and the fact that a physical change of opening the window can make it so bad tells me the same!).

Mine had 3 software updates when it was in - didn't make the slightest bit of difference.

There is supposedly/allegedly a new'ish update available that helps with this. Not sure it solves it, but helps. It came out in the last 2-3months, so hopefully people should be getting it as they get their cars in the dealers

Mine is exactly the same. I open the window (even slightly) which I like to do on a warm day and the sub suddenly farts and rattles.

I also get a resonant rattle/buzz from the front centre speaker at the top of the dashboard. Only at certain frequencies, so some music does it and others don't.

For an apparent high end audio system I think it's shite. Apparently it can be significantly improved by disconnecting the sub and fitting one of those cheap $200 integrated amp/bass speakers on the rear luggage shelf behind you.

I'm booked in to get the new sound system software next month. Apparently it reduces the problem, but I am sceptical.

I'll ask the dealer again - but it was only 2 months ago when it was in for this problem.
You never know!

I do have a contact at Hethel that I'm trying to politely pester without getting on his whatsits so I'll be pursuing him before too long.

My dealer (sadly) is somewhat corpse-like.

i.e. Very unresponsive!

Somewhat shite - yep that covers it! 😂

I was told (and I don't believe them) that access to the subwoofer is not through the panel behind the seats (of course it is!) but accessed by removing the wheel arch cover (RH rear from the back) - and that they didn't want to risk water ingress.

I find that hard to believe to be honest!

I await with subdued anticipation! 🙏

You're right to be sceptical.

That photo from the manual is for the base audio, not KEF. No one knows why.

The KEF system's subwoofer location and access has been well documented, including numerous photos, in this forum. A quick search should help find it.

You are quite correct - on page 1 of the KEF thread is:

Showing that the Subwoofer is indeed attached to the Right Rear tyre 🤣

I'll keep digging!

Access to the subwoofer is very much via the right hand rear side cover:

When I added the sound deadener to my car I wrapped this pressure relief thing in some cloth tape when reinstalling it and it helped with some of the noise. It was not attached securely prior. You can see it in the picture in the above post. It exits to the wheel well.

@Rapture & @KJD

Thanks for both those photos 🙏 - so access 'is' from the inside. Without having to remove the wheel arch cover.
That's good to know.

I have spoken to the guys at KEF - who's hands were a bit tied as my car is only 12 months old and still under warranty.

They pointed me to those flaps and advised blocking each one with foam (one at a time) to try to deaden the vibrations.

I'll show my dealer these photos

Cheers 👍
