Sadly i came back to my car today (left in an official city run carpark) and the driver side window has been toally smashed in by some arsehole.

I wondered if anybody has experience replacing the window? I’ve obviously reported this to my insurance and the police but I’m still waiting for replies from them…

Would be good to get some help please from anyone with experience in how much it costs and how long it takes to get this window replaced.

thank you

Window smash, door handles ripped off? I keep hearing about these incidents. Is it a jealousy thing? Have people had this kind of thing with other nice cars?

Jealousy or just senselessness. I've had this and worse with my Elise but also with other cars I've had that aren't anything special. My son's had this with his Aygo and that's not anything anyone should be jealous of. Who knows?

So a little update on this guys.. hope this is helpful.

My insurer (Admiral) are being really good about this. Looks like I'll only pay £115 to have the thing repaired. (Cost without insurance was roughly quoted to be £1200).

However, the window a rare part even in the UK and it seems like I'll be waiting 7-10 days before the glass is available to be fitted...

£1200 for a side window. Holy Hell !!!
I'd hate to think how much a tailgate window, or windscreen is then.

Excuse me? Based on my latest loaner car for warranty work this is a perfectly acceptable Emira replacement and at least on-par if not better :coffee:
I don't know whether to laugh or cry at this as I am indeed driving my son's Aygo as a replacement for my Emira currently stranded in Norway*.

*If it stopped raining I'd take out the Elise but this is the UK in Winter.

Last year I got a loan car booked direct by Lotus for warranty work. Big Volvo hybrid tank.

I bought a tailgate glass (privacy) I think it was £370. thought that was quite reasonable for a slow moving part.
They must sell way more windshields and side windows.

Holy shit, you got a loaner?

Yeah, we don't seem to be getting left completely high and dry over here at least... I've got a Peugot 5008 hybrid lardmobile as my loaner right now (doors, hatch, and rear fenders done, currently curing for a few weeks before re-applying PPF)

This is pleasing to hear, as I'm also with them... but obviously I now hold you responsible if my premium goes up next year 😉
1200 squids. Daayyyyum.

I was semi-joking. To be fair, my car has been trouble free and I haven’t needed a loaner. However, from what I’ve read, I’m not expecting a lot of customer service from Lotus.

Another update... I spoke with Lotus yesterday, and they have had no stock in the UK for the replacement.. but more are due to land on Friday.. so perhaps I'll get the repair mid-next week... so all in all thats about 18-20 days wait for the window to be replaced.. can't drive the car whilst its cold and raining here in the UK.. sad times :-(

I had my drivers door window explode on me a few months ago, Hendy Performance Eastleigh replaced it for me, it was a lot cheaper than £1200, I suggest you give them a call.
