I’ve used RMS for my Elise previously and they are well known in Lotus circles for being pretty good and experts on Lotus.
I took my Emira in to them today to get the wheel alignment sorted out. It had previously been done twice by other places in Essex and neither had done a good job. It was OK but not great, caster was a degree out between wheels for example – maybe not really an issue on normal roads but it was bugging me.
Dave from RMS had the car on the ramp with the Hunter alignment with me for 4 hours today – nailing in the geometry and getting it spot on. And a good job I did persevere with this too as we found the lower wishbone bolts were only finger-tight from the last alignment done elsewhere. Dave also replaced some fittings we found missing from the undertrays.
The cost was eminently reasonable considering it took 4 hours.
The car drives far "straighter" now on the way home - I don't think I am imagining that; I think the Emira (like many Lotus) are quite sensitive to getting the geometry right. I'd recommend anyone to at least getting theirs checked if they've not already - a check-up should be free. Many come new from the factory not very well set up. You will likely need to bring in the geometry settings from the service manual (or this forum) in with you as most places don't have the correct setting for the Emira - it's quite different from the Evora and i4 vs v6 and the tyres fitted also have different settings.
I’d thought RMS mainly did older Lotus, you always seen Elises, Exiges and Esprits parked outside (today a Europa). But they told me they do a fair number of Emiras too – they’d had 3 in last week.
I guess most Lotus owners have already heard of them but I’d recommend them to anyone in the area with an Emira too.
Another bonus was looking over the lovely Noble M400 they had in at the same time in the workshop.
