Paint blistering is an issue on some UK and European based cars but I haven't heard that is is a problem for USA based Emiras. I was wondering if anyone in the USA has had this issue?

Can you reword this? It's a double negative.

If I have a car with no blisters I would choose yes, right?
If one responds as you suggest, wording ok as is response-
But his query is like legs on a snake-confusing and unnecessary……..!

The poll is very confusing so I won’t answer the poll, but yes I know several Emiras in the US with paint blistering issue.

sorry for the typo...there's no way to edit the poll question. But its pretty self explanatory. Yes for Blistering No for none

I read it totally opposite of that "yes" for no paint blistering. I also I'm not going to answer, but my car does not have blisters...

yet

US car. Dec 2024 delivery. No paint blistering.

US. May 2024 delivery. Paint blistering on passenger door.

the poll does have a double negative. I have no paint blistering, initially put "yes". Title is "USA car with no paint blistering" Answers are YES or NO. YES I have a USA car with no paint blistering... We should just delete this thread as the poll will be all over the place unless people read the comments....i did change it to no after reading the comments.

2024 Nimbus Emira- no paint blistering

I reworded the poll and enabled the ability for users to change their votes as needed. Hope this helps!
Thanks...I get the humor and should have proofread more closely. I wish the site allowed edits after posting but it doesn't

Kudos for getting it started as it's an important topic and this kind of information can provide clarity.

Can you list the manufacturer date found on the door sill.

Also, I would encourage anyone else who does in fact have blistering (and posts about it), to list their manufacturer date (all US cars have this on the door sill). This could help shed light on whether it's a parts issue, a painting issue (who paint batches were used then or "who" did the painting paint mixing, etc.). Also, list if it's stored outside or garaged.

I've been following that thread since inception. Not sure the aforementioned conclusion was ever confirmed.

Unfortunately not - I'm sure someone at Lotus knows but doubt we will ever hear any confirmation. I mean even the dealerships give conflicting information, and there never even a TSB put out which is crazy to me, but I understand why given Lotus' financial situation. I don't believe it's a paint issue given that many who had doors repainted had the issue reappear. I'm also dubious that there was a new door version that superceded the old version that supposedly had this issue since some people who had the replacement doors still had bubbles appear.

My US spec car was bought in April 2024 and has shown no paint blistering to date. It is stored in a carport (not a garage) and has been exposed to New Jersey temps ranging from 5°F to 100°F. The car has been driven year round, regularly exposed to rain, and washed at least once per week. I do tend to drive it at least once a week or so it def doesn’t sit unused for extended periods

Nothing is confirmed - as Lotus are keeping quiet about it.

But; 1. Lotus are replacing the whole panel/door and not just repainting them. 2. Only the panels made by Teijin of TCA composite are affected. Not the panels made by Lotus. 3. TCA is made from highly compressed composite layers that are easy to trap air within under pressure.

Is there a way to tell who has made the doors on a given car?
