Not quite in Toronto. In a small city just to the north. This will be a bit long since some people like to know the buying experience. I originally had a deposit on one, but then after waiting and hearing nothing from Lotus, got a refund and moved on. Recently decided it was time to get one.

I wasn't too fussy on colour or interior. I wasn't sure about alcantara since some of the interiors I've seen (after a few years) look like crap, especially the steering wheel. Then I watched some videos on how you take care of it and clean it, and thought it would actually be good.

The one "must have" was the Touring suspension, and that was the issue. There are many cars for sale, used and new, and all of them had the Sport suspension. Some reviews say the Sport isn't too bad, but the ones driving on not so great roads say the Touring is a must. Oh, the other must have was manual, so that made it a 6cyl. I had a car to trade and was in contact with Lotus of Oakville for a while. Then I asked about cars with Touring suspension since I didn't see any on their website; nope, didn't have any. I was told I could order one. Not a chance; more on that later.

I called Gentry (all of their advertised Emira's had Sport suspension) and was told they didn't have any. Then I was told "wait a minute, might have a one". A person that was going to buy the one with Touring suspension decided on one with Sport suspension, so the car was mine if I wanted it. Beautiful colour inside and out; Seneca blue, black alcantara with yellow stitching. The car was registered to the dealer, but with basically no mileage on it. So it was used as far as luxury tax goes, but new as far as warranty.

Why I didn't want to order a new car. There would be luxury tax on it, which is 20% of the price over $100k. No luxury tax on "used" cars. Then there is our usual tax of 13%, and they even charge that on the luxury tax! I added up the price of a 2025 with the options that mine had included, and with all the taxes and dealer fees, it was just over $190k. This is in Canadian $$. That is crazy!

Anyways, I was going to drive it home from the dealer, but winter had set in so I had it delivered. What a beautiful car!

Right now it is in the garage with its mate that is almost 60 years older. Both are waiting for spring.

Hi Rick.
I too bought from Gentry and I took took delivery of a car that was orphaned. I had a allocation but timing was everything. My car is Seneca with same interior as yours.
Paul at Gentry is great. I live in Prince Edward County, South of Belleville and we do some great events with Gentry.
Great story and colour combination. Welcome to the family. Hopefully us Ontarians can meet up for some events in 2026. @GRP is your friend for anything Emira and the forum is great for education and sense of community. Jason

Welcome to the club. Sounds like you got a bargain there and it must be torture having to wait until Spring before you can drive it.

Did you try driving a sports suspension one? I tried both back to back and there is some difference you can feel between sports and touring but not that much and I think this is often overblown. In my experience the tyres can make more of a difference as well as the tyre pressures.

But oh no.. you have that beautiful yellow MG (it's not an MG is it?) there in your garage as a sister car and you could have got a yellow Emira to match - not that I'm biased towards yellow cars in any way at all, really not at all, honest!

@Carbuilder OK, I give up. At first glance I thought that yellow car in the background of your garage was an MG but looking again it's not - not with the bonnet scoop. Not a TR4 or Sunbeam either. The Healey has a bonnet scoop but that's not a Healy. I'm sure I recognise it but can't place it as a British sports car. What car is that?

Thanks very much for the nice welcome guys. I do go in the garage and have a look at the car now and then........like every day.

My other car? It's a Sunbeam Tiger. Don't feel bad about not knowing that. We went to the UK recently for a vacation and I visited 2 really good car museums; not a Sunbeam in sight. The Tiger is the V8 version, but the Alpine is the 4cyl that the Tiger was based on. I would have expected to at least see one of those. I have had a couple MG's and a Triumph in the past. I have a love/hate relationship with them. Love the styling, the simplicity to work on them....hate when they leak (and they all do, so I should expect that).

I'm in Bolton.

It is a Sunbeam Tiger then - it was one of my guesses but I didn't think the Tiger had a bonnet scoop like that. They are very rare, even here in the UK, I've seen several Alpines in the flesh but never a Tiger as far as I remember. It's a lovely looking car.

I’m surprised touring was such a priority for you. I don’t think our roads are that bad. Did I see in a previous post that you built an 818 as well? What was that like?

Welcome to the fam. Great colour too! Im in Stoney Creek area. Good to see another ontario based Lotus here. Hope to see you out and about. I got snow tires on my emira - drive on clear cold days. #yolo. :)
