I truly love this car, but the recurring problems and service hassles are making it hard to enjoy.

I've owned my Emira V6 manual for just over six months now, and while I truly love the car, the issues and service experience are starting to take a serious toll.

Within the first 500 miles, I had to take it to the dealer twice for check engine lights related to different problems. Both visits resulted in long wait times and the car being out of commission — nearly 3 of the 6 months I've owned it. One stay lasted almost 3 weeks, the second over 5 weeks.

After finally getting the car back, I was able to enjoy it for about three months and put on 2,500 miles. Unfortunately, more issues are now cropping up:

Current Issues:

  • ABS/ESC Warnings: While cruising the other day, the ABS and ESC lights suddenly came on, along with multiple warning messages about the braking system and emergency brake.
  • Drivetrain Noise: Occasionally, while downshifting (especially from 3rd to 2nd around 30–35 mph) or accelerating a bit harder from a stop, I hear a loud humming or resonance. It doesn't happen every time, and I usually rev match, which seems to prevent it — but it’s noticeable and frequent enough to be concerning.
  • Bubble on Black Roof Panel: I've noticed a small bubble forming under the PPF on the black top. This definitely wasn’t there a few weeks ago. I’ve heard of door paint bubbling but never on the roof. Not sure what’s going on there.

Other Annoyances:

  • Seat Creaking: The leather side bolsters rub against the seat’s plastic trim, causing constant creaking and squeaking. It affects both the seat bottom and back. I tried placing foam between the materials, which helps a bit. The dealer previously added felt tape, but that made no difference.
  • Fueling Issues: About 80% of the time I try to get gas (in NJ, where it’s full service), the pump shuts off after just 3–5 gallons. I always end up explaining to the attendant that the tank isn’t full. It's a constant hassle.

Service Frustration:

The most frustrating part is the service situation. I called the dealer about the brake warnings and was told the earliest appointment would be in two months. After pressing the issue, they agreed to squeeze me in late July, but I was told to expect the car to be in the shop for at least a month again, especially if parts are needed.

In the meantime, I was told to keep driving it — even though the ABS and ESC may not be functioning.

I was patient during the winter and spring when the car was off the road, but it’s now summer — peak driving season — and this ongoing cycle of problems and delays is incredibly disheartening.

I understand this is a new model and some teething issues are expected, but between the reliability concerns and service bottlenecks, it's hard to feel confident about owning the car long-term.

Sorry for the long rant and yes I used AI lol:);)

I had the same experience with my Evora. Purchased the car new from the Lotus dealer in St. Louis. Teh dealer had many higher end car dealerships within the same location (Aston Martin, Lamborghini, RR,etc)
The Lotus was the cheapest car they sold, and this became very apparent after the sale. Long wait times. receiving the car back filthy. Broken tabs and bolts.
I quickly became quite proficient in troubleshooting and fixing problems.
Fingers crossed my Emira stays solid and needs no dealer intervention.
