Has anyone installed Recaro Sportsters?

Hi. I was able to fix the lower back pain issue and to improve the overall positioning.

It required a change to the cushion material underneath - but that was easy. The leather seams were opened and closed, without destroying the original leather.

I’m happy because I can drive now without lower back pain.

Realistically speaking a 15-20% overall improvement is feasible. Above that number one needs to buy new seats, I think.
Hi, thanks for update. I`m the same with wanting the to drop the seat height a bit and if i can avoid spending £££££££`s then i`d certainly look at it. Like the thought of the Recaros but haven`t seen what they do runner/height wise.

There are certain motors/electronics under the seats which makes cutting+welding not possible. To drop the height one would need to change the rails but I haven't found yet where to buy those for the Emira.

Looks interesting: https://www.carbone.pl/en/products/recaro-sportster-cs-basket-weave-set-of-2-seats-4936

To OP's original question, I was in a similar boat looking at the sportsters. My reasoning for going that route was to retain the side airbag in the seat. What I learned recently is that the sportster seat sold in the US cannot be had with the side airbag option that other markets have.

Not sure if it's the same rationale for OP being curious about sportsters as well, but for me it basically makes all aftermarket seats the same in terms of safety equipment so it would come down to fit and appearance for me if I were to replace the seats. Fingers crossed there is eventually a Emira R or GT that we can pull some compliant seats from.

The rails on the OEM seats are integrated into the seat frame so you will struggle to make the seat lower by any alteration of the frame.
Yes. We thought about cutting and welding them (with my mechanic) but the motors for the seat, function in a certain angle. If cut they won’t work anymore.

If Emira GT had better seats that would be an option. But also altering cushion and then redoing a bit the leather - did have a positive effect.
