Has anyone installed Recaro Sportsters?

I thinking about going with a set of Recaro Sportsters. Has anyone installed a set yet?

I havent seen any in an Emira yet.
I installed some in a previous car I owned and they came stock in the earlier Evora's. They are pretty comfy and you could possibly get the heat integrated.
Mounting could pose a challenge as they are setup to bottom mount and the boltpattern wont match the floor on the Emira, so you would need to create an adapter plate most likely.

I’m also thinking about this, the stock seats hurt my lower back.

I test drove a new Civic Type R yesterday and the seats were amazing. Wish I could just plop those seats in my Emira

The Honda/acura seats are overall the best made car seats of any brand

100% - you get what you pay for, just need to save a little while longer. Would feel much safer in your seats/brackets too, given all of your experience!

The fact that the recaros can have airbags as an option put them ahead as it is the only legal way to have aftermarket seats in AU.

How is the access to the storage space behind the seats with these installed?

The lose of airbags, must make it a declarable item to the insurance company.

I had no issue when I declared them to my own insurance company. I’ve not had anyone to date come back to me and suggest an issue either.

It is limiting for sure, but I'm not trying to carry a suitcase back there or anything.

I have not had that anyone suggest there is a seat belt issue. The unplugging of the wires does not cause a seat belt audible warning. When you have the resistor plugs they make them work as normal, warning you when you do not have the belt connected. The brackets we sell have had the relevant pull test to prove the mount points are compliant.
The internal seat airbags are to stop you flying sideways. That's because the OEM seat is a flat seat. You are supported significantly better in our more race orientated seats, so you would remain located in a side impact. Restricted access is a compromise with a large hard suitcase. Small suitcases or kit bags can be passed through the centre.

Yeah, I've got my Elise if I want to sit in a shell. The seats are well suited to that car. I'm looking for something more compliant for the Emira.

Never judge a seat by it's cover.

Removed today the seats again. There are some electronics under which cannot be removed because of the angle that the small motors sit there. There are three options to improve position and ergonomics without changing the seats I believe:

a) fabricate a thinner version of the rails under the seats. It’s not an easy task. That would place the seats a few centimetres lower.

b) re-fabricate the cushioning. I’m going this route. We fixed so far the “lower back pain” and next we will work on the seat height, and legs positions as much as it’s possible.

c) remove all electronics and create new rails. Potentially an option to lower the height but it won’t fix the ergonomics otherwise.

So option b it is for myself at the moment. Will repost if the results in a couple of weeks. The cost is about 400€ here where I live.

PS. I’m 1.86 cm shorter guys might have less issues with the seats in general.

Hi. I was able to fix the lower back pain issue and to improve the overall positioning.

It required a change to the cushion material underneath - but that was easy. The leather seams were opened and closed, without destroying the original leather.

I’m happy because I can drive now without lower back pain.

Realistically speaking a 15-20% overall improvement is feasible. Above that number one needs to buy new seats, I think.
