I recently sold a 718 GT4 manual. The gear 'issue' is about the ability of second to reach 85 mph iirc thus on B roads you don't have to do much gear swooping with the fab short throw box........however the engine is so torque infested that I just changed up to third etc and ignored the ratios...
That's the point Lotus seem to miss......taking a punt with £80k shouldn't be necessary. Others , higher end companies, will organise getting a drive in cars with the features you see as key or arrange a view of other colours. It's about attitude.
In December I requested a spec change on the exterior colour and interior leather. This was a bit of a test to see how quickly CS would respond.......they didn't follow thru' so I cancelled my order and chased the deposit, which was returned. My original delivery date was July 22 but had been...
If you buy a Lotus, then be prepared to deal with the service/warranty issues by spending time via email, telephone, and at the agent. Porsche is a doddle in comparison. My 5 or so Porkers have all had warranty claims for various issues but no quibbles, from the engine out to replacement dash...
Last time I hit a diesel spillage ( hidden in wet conditions ) it felt like skidding on ice........very distinctive, happened a couple of times on roundabouts.
According to a Lawyer friend, the money laundering procedures are very tight and penalties are real if you don't comply. Recently I sold a motorbike and wouldn't release it until funds had been cleared but the purchaser wouldn't pay until he had seen the bike so he brought cash, £13,000. Off we...
I had this problem some years back. The logjam was that the car dealer pays a commission when taking a card deposit and they want to claw that back which happens when they reverse the transaction to the card. So Lotus can't do this but it's usually a tiny transaction percentage. It may be worth...
My view is different.
Lotus's primary concern is selling new cars. The pre-owned market contributes nothing to their P&L or balance sheet, the market will decide residuals (Adam Smith, The Wealth Of Nations, 1776)......and don't get fooled by limited editions like the Porker GT3 where ensuring...
It's odd. The lack of line operatives in that video. They are there but too many are hiding, slacking, bunking off in the bike sheds having a fag.....now we know why delivery is off schedule.
Got ya, we don't know nowt?😁 When folk realise the Emira is good at going round in circles it may increase desire, demand and price......maybe, maybe not🤣
One observation about orange peel. It is poor on BMWs and Mercs but not an issue to customers in mainland Europe, only in the UK. However, if you want to see what can be achieved look at modern Hyundai cars, from the cheapest to the most expensive. Generally, they have a stunning finish with...
I didn't notice offset pedals, steering wheel, narrow screen, wobbly switches, door seal imperfections, water in the boot, orange peel, panel gap variance, ugly bonnet seal, wind noise, gearbox squeak or lack of Sky Sport. I wonder if I was driving an Emira, must check with the dealer.
I tested the car from Silverstone and also felt, on very undulating B roads, the suspension lacked composure, almost like the damping had too much travel or had soft compression but the steering/chassis stayed 'true'. It was uncomfortable at speed on those undulating roads. I also asked the...
MY 22 LOT is available for transfer. E mail [email address removed] if interested. No car attached.

Typically Mac dealers have a £!0k margin on pre-owned and before the car shortages would dump a car at cost if stuck around, think that was 6 weeks. I did get £80k discount on a couple of Macs, a 12C Spider and 720S. So if stock is sticking in the back yard there is usually something to be had.
Modern Vantages are very solid, ie the ones with the Merc powertrain. But they are heavy.....typically 200kg more than Aston claim.....some reviewers took them to weighbridges.
However, if you hanker after a trad English bruiser then they are OK. The V12 manual, from around 2012, with twin...
New car market getting slow, a M4 Coupe at 15% discount, unregistered to spec. This week. Rolls Royce Cullinan at massive £xxxxx discount, very popular with Lotus owners, you could buy 4 Emiras or more for a Cullinan.
When I tested the car this week the Lotus guy showed me how the rear hatch glass is clear of the bodywork on its lower edge so that engine heat can escape. Thus, when the hatch is lifted, any water present will wash through this opening onto the engine bay, he thought it missed the luggage area...
I cancelled my order today after test-driving yesterday. It's a well-built and well-styled car but won't suit my needs which are, mainly, as a touring sports car. The luggage capacity, particularly behind the seats (claimed to hold two carry-on-sized cases) would not accommodate my wife's 36...
I forgot to mention the Keff audio. I had finished driving and asked for the system to be switched on, we were stationary. The sound is detailed but lacks 'depth' in that it is a bit tinny.....are you realising I have in-depth knowledge of high-end hi-fi, lol.
My guess is the doors need some...
I have just test driven the car pictured below, manual with tour suspension, at Lotus Silverstone. The route was on country roads with a short blast on a dual carriageway. Lot of bumpy roads but a decent test route.
The build integrity is very good, this car is solid with materials of a fine...
I don't think you are confused. You have spent time driving both cars and can't make up your mind. You are indecisive. Buy both but in those different colours, which you think you should have but can't decide which one.
But seriously, I have had a number of cars with switchable variable...
It's not confusing as it's a choice between one or the other. OK, that choice would be easier if test drives were available in each option. That's the mess up, no test drives.
So much for dealer-organised test drives.......please book via Lotus, there are spots released for January. By comparison, Porsche doesn't have every model to test drive but they can arrange a day at their Silverstone facility/track or organise a management car.....
Mercedes moved to an agency model and the dealers love it as it significantly reduces working capital, it eliminates lost sales to other areas as the Manufacturer controls price. There are other advantages.
Lotus will take some time to acquire customer facing skills and agency skills.....it...
