    Painting the shifter knob markings

I wonder if this would be easier to apply using a syringe? I see McMaster has stainless tips in various diameters. Similar to how you’d apply solder paste (for SMT PCBs). Seems like it could be a good way to fill. I’ve got epoxy screen printing inks at work in black & red which should hold up...

    Super excited - transmission quandry!

A lot has happened since I started this thread! I placed the order & confirmed an FE2 V6 manual. in the meantime I ended up buying an Evora GT back in July. At that point I had no idea if & when an Emira would materialize, so I thought I’d drive the GT until the Emira shows up. Turned out I fell...

So funny! 9am got the “expected delivery first few weeks of 2024“ email. This is the first and ONLY communication I have ever received about this car other than texts with my sales guy and some initial acknowledgment that I placed an order with no detail whatsoever. A couple months ago...

So you’re saying you can get an FE2 allocation from Galpin without ADM right now? Because if not, that’s meaningless.

Is it bad form to cancel your order via text? I mean, it’s not like breaking up with a gf.. And FYI it was #2 spot at Galpin for FE2 with $20K ADM. With the Evora GT just didn’t have the urgency anymore. Once they start actually delivering cars & we see real deliveries, I may reorder locally at...

Away for a couple weeks. That was a lot of posts to wade through! TL;DR some funny memes, nothing new. Guess I’ll run my Evora GT out to the coast & back, and decide if today’s the day to cancel the Emira order.

I know this is a silly question because no one has any idea, but… I’m paying a big ADM to get an FE2.0. It’s starting to seem like I could cancel that order, place a new order for base with a local dealer that doesn’t charge ADM, and only delay by 6 months or less. Big cost savings and...

Yup. I know the car exactly. It was offered to me but spec including color was too far out from what I wanted.

Dealer contacted me yesterday and asked me to send the config code (again..) and he’ll lock my build this week. This is for FE2.0, of course. Ironically, I bought an Evora GT the day before. 🤷🏻

Supply and demand. Fortunately, while the dealers benefit, they’re not part of the equation. Manufacturers want to sell more cars and meet the demand. Although aside from supply chain problems, we live in weird times. High interest rates and the looming possibility of recession makes projecting...

$20,000 ADM on a $46K car is a bit offensive, no? Looking at hybrids for my wife seeing +20%. But this is crazy.

I wonder if that’s based on any real intel, or just take whatever Lotus says and plan on them being late. Which everyone already knows. Pinged my sales guy a week ago if any new rumors on 2.0 allocations. He said “no rumors but they are coming and you’re getting one.” No news is good news?!

I was poking him pretty regularly. Squeaking wheel theory. Although at this point seems like no reason since I figure any real news about approvals & allocations will show up here first. Soon as I hear a peep about anything squeak squeak! Or just check in to say hi.

Also deposit with Galpin. They’ve always been responsive via text. Sometimes it’s unclear exactly what’s going on, but I attribute more of that to sketchy communication from Lotus than the dealer. sales guy called me when FE2 announced, and gave me a position in that line. To be fair, I did see a screenshot of an order submission which I’m sure is legit. Lack of clarity on what’s meant by communication in the Lotus world is clearly (unclearly) how things are done. I’m happy to hear anything at all and makes me hopeful I’ll see a car before I’m dead.

Thanks for the feedback! It really sounds like they’re both good choices. I think I’ll go with the manual. My 17 year old daughter says I should get it so she can “learn stick”. Long time ago, but it was a ‘62 so I think it would have been a T6. It had some serious rust problems which prior owner had botched repairs. I enjoyed driving it for awhile then decided not to tackle the restoration and sold it. Big mistake!
