    Dallas Emira Owners

I love the blues side by side! A Meridian just needs to finds its way to y'all next time! Is that at the Catalina Wine Mixer? I see the chopper in the background.

Anyone else just drive around in Track mode all the time?

I learned a hard lesson about winter driving. 10 years ago or so I was living in Dallas. We had multiple consecutive days of freezing rain with temperatures that did not get above freezing. Dallas is completely unequipped for such weather, as it happens very, very infrequently, and the...

Track setting here 90% of the time.

Anyone else just drive around in Track mode all the time?

Ah, my Canadian friend! Not all winters are the same! Our “winter” here in central Texas is a bit, shall we say, “milder” than what The Great Frozen North experiences. Our average daily low temp in January is still above freezing. So yes, my Emira can be a year-round car!

    Show us your stable!

Fantastic car! It's like a cross between a Caterham and Plymouth Prowler, and I mean that in the BEST possible way! I love it!

    Show us your stable!

I think you just followed the owner of one of those “drive an exotic for $599” home and took a picture of their garage. Nice collection!

Porsche GTS4.0 owner impressions of the Emira

I am a HUGE fan of HUDs, especially for night time driving. I wish we had one in the Emira. I think they’re especially nice for nighttime driving when you turn off the instrument cluster and all other interior lights.

What did you do to your Emira today?

I didn’t “do” anything to me car, per se, but last Friday I picked my daughter up in my Emira, and my dad picked my son up in his 1976 Triumph TR6, one right in front of the other. Pretty good start to the first week back at elementary school!

    Nilu Hypercar

It’s pretty cool that you can now buy road cars that, with racing tires fitted, would leave LeMans cars from the 60’s and 70’s in the dust. With air conditioning and CarPlay.

I wonder if Gordon Murray would make a “bespoke” pretty version of the T50 if you gave him enough money. I have similar feelings about the McLaren F1. Fantastic specs and technical achievement. Styling is meh.

    The 1st Edition isn't exclusive

Yeah….joking. I wish! Nope, my car won’t start sometimes. Then it does. I need to get it back to the dealer to have them sort it out.

Cars you've sold or passed on and wished you hadn't?

I have read that the Evora S was/is a true high mark for handling. Very nice ones can still be had for $45-55k, which I think is a bargain if they live up to the hype. How does the Emira compare to the Evora S 2+2?

Osmium Silver Lotus Emira photo thread

Every time someone posts a beautiful high res, high contrast photo of an Emira in different configuration than mine I think I should have gotten mine configured like that! I need to stop looking at y’all’s photos. Or get some vanity photos of my own car taken!

Who knows? I think different people received different gifts at different times, some no gift at all. Mine came a lot later than other forum members.

Cars you've sold or passed on and wished you hadn't?

2003 XJR 100 with about 50k miles for $13,500ish. There’s a specific one I’m thinking of, but many low mile examples were trading for under 20k.

    The 1st Edition isn't exclusive

Oddly, part of the mystique to me is the idea that Lotus is still somewhat of a cottage car maker that’s gotten by on wits and outside the box thinking despite limited resources. I know this isn’t exactly the case, as Geely owns them and I have seen the videos of the new factory. It ain’t like...

    The 1st Edition isn't exclusive

On the one hand, you’re right. On the other hand? You’re probably right on that hand too, frankly. Once the “First Edition” expanded the color options and made a de facto FE 2.0, it became obvious to me that it wasn’t a truly limited production. I’m probably OK with that because I didn’t order...

Digital dashboard - anybody want gauges with more info?

I would pay a premium if someone were to make physical gauges that replaced most of the display. I know a small screen is needed for some of the info, but a physics tach, speedo, and a few temp gauges would be awesome. And yes, I know this is pie-in-the-sky unless I did it myself with 100s of...

    Valvetronic Exhaust

We MUST have all of the details if you get a built engine. I have silly dreams of writing an massive check to JUBU or someone similar to build a lairy 500+ horsepower Emira. For me, the aftermarket exhaust systems would have to be way louder than stock on track to be too loud. IMO, the stereo...

I would love to have a traditional “round gauge” display.

My neighbor wrote an Emira poem!

He's a very kind, interesting old fellow. I was glad to share it with him. Plus, having know him for a very long time, if he had broken anything, he is the type of guy that would have fixed it without hesitation. I won't let everyone drive it, but I'm not a guy that hides the car away in the...

My neighbor wrote an Emira poem!

I took my 75 year-old next-door neighbor and long-time family friend for a ride on Tuesday. I turned over the keys and let him drive too. He writes a poem every Friday that he shares with the cycling group he belongs to. I thought I would share his work! (Forgive the "twin-turbo" detail). Colin...

service provisions when an Emira is tied up at the dealer for repairs?

I bought through Lotus of Dallas, and had to take my car in for a CEL at around 400 miles on the odometer. The dealership is a 3.5 hour round trip from where I live. When I got there and inquired about a loaner for the day, I was initially told I could rent a car from them, but that Lotus had...

Osmium Silver Lotus Emira photo thread

When I think Porsche, I think of a traditional silver. Not a bronze or dusty silver, but a metallic silver, maybe with a blue hue. It is the quintessential color for a Porsche. No other color shows off the body lines like OS. To my eye, there are panel convexities and concavities that aren't...

Do people really dislike the covered start button?

A bit off topic, but I think a start/stop button with a mil-spec cover could have looked at home in the Evora GT. The interior design was much better suited to it.

So disappointed with Zinc grey ...

I knew there would be someone in the crowd! How would you feel about a red/orange that you can't really tell what color it is, or if it's maybe just a super-even layer of light surface rust? All the better if the German word for the color sounds really cool but translates to something...

Do people really dislike the covered start button?

I think it's OK. Not ugly, not pretty, just kind of there. Better with than without though. Here's my best attempt at describing why I feel this way: The interior of the Emira is not especially sports-car-y. It's pretty, and sleek, but it doesn't speak the traditional design language of sports...

    Full-on JUBU car?

So disappointed with Zinc grey ...

There are some colors that, for whatever reason, were unappreciated when new that look great in retrospect. Then there are colors that were ugly then and are ugly now! A lot of 70s colors come to mind when thinking about vintage Porsches. Mustard yellow, Pea Soup Green, Dookie Brown, all come...

What did you do to your Emira today?

Other sports cars may look more dramatic, but the Emira more than holds it's own when it comes to design. Sooooo many angular and angry sports cars on the road- the Emira is one of the very few oraganic and curvaceous designs. The design of our Emiras will age much better than virtually all of...

So disappointed with Zinc grey ...

For me it would come down to how long I planned to keep the car. Forever car? Neither Zinc Emira or Electre. I couldn’t be happy owning an Emira long term unless it was in the color I wanted, or at least liked. Electre is not a “forever” vehicle for me anyway, as I see it as just one in a sea...
