I'm agreeing with you, it's definitely there. Announcer notes were clearly wrong!

    i4 versus V6 sound … from Goodwood ….. OR NOT :(

Hmmmm....I see what you're saying. When I watched the stream, though, the commentators clearly were talking about it being the new I4. Confusing for sure.

    FE I4 $99,900 😞

Granted there is more work since it doesn't come as a unit. However, the Toyota block is completely stock. There is no engine work done except bolting on the supercharger. The manual transmission is where the additional work is done - replacing gears, milling the bellhousing and polishing the...

I agree with this completely. Another US issue that I'm concerned about is parts supply. If there are failing components, will the US have an on-hand supply of those components? If we have to wait for shipments from the UK it'll make the service times even more painful. At this stage...

    Interesting Factory / Build info

It really depends on the how the station is set up. When I was there, there were multiple people at each station. It's entirely possible that a quality check is performed within the workstation. And, as I watched the chassis/roof assembly, they were doing what you described. They pointed...

    Interesting Factory / Build info

I wonder which station(s) is their bottleneck? They are only 5 mins off their goal so probably aren't ready to invest/reorganize for the parallel station approach just yet. Might actually be better to not push that workforce to their limit until all the gremlins are worked out! I wish I could...

    Interesting Factory / Build info

OK - I see what you're saying. And you're correct, the Toyota lines move very quickly. There are many more stations in huge plants, each performing much smaller units of work. I read an article a few years ago that one of their car-every-60-seconds lines was actually limited by a single...

    Interesting Factory / Build info

The stations are balanced so that the work performed at each station takes about the same time. Each station moves it's completed work forward to the next station at the same time. Every 23 minutes the stations move forward and a completed car leaves the line. There are a number of reasons...

Yep, you'd think that since it happens every year people would just adjust and move on. Instead, they act like it's the first time they've ever encountered slick streets. Then they go so slow and timidly that their cars don't have enough momentum to get over the slick stuff and they get...

V6 FE dyno results and weight

Since all dyno calcs come from WHP, you have to take the WHP/(1-drivetrain loss)=BHP. So 333.7/.85=397.5. THEN, you apply the correction factor for temp and altitude to get the standardized (corrected) crank hp. So, according to that it's pulling 409 at the crank. If you want to get the...

V6 FE dyno results and weight

The dyno measures WHP. They entered a standard 15% drivetrain loss to arrive at an engine HP.

V6 FE dyno results and weight

The IAT sensor may be on the boosted side of the supercharger. Some cars integrate the IAT with the Boost pressure sensor. So, that would account for the increase in temperature.

    Track day preparations

Good ideas so far. Also: - Good tire pressure gauge. Your pressures will increase dramatically and you'll find yourself needing to lower after the session to maintain correct pressure. - Mechanix gloves or something similar. Important if you need to reach into hot engine bay, or touch area...

Another breakdown! Id happily have my money back now

2005 Elise. No gremlins during my ownership - sold in 2014. No problems with Lotus service. Lots of mods. Drove the absolute hell out of it on track. One of very few cars I wish I'd never sold.

What if ... BMW engine in an Emira

I didn’t like the sound of the S55 in my F87 either. I went with equal length midpipes, ditched the secondary cats and resonators. Totally different experience! You might give it a try!

    Emira performance - disappointing?

Don't put your words in my mouth. Lotus is not slow, just too slow for your lofty expectations. They are plenty fast and fun to drive. I don't find Lotus to be unreliable, and never said they were. I've had several and they were as reliable as any car. Overpriced? Maybe, but probably not...

No, I don't think he'd disagree. His road cars were never the fastest and he never tried to make them the fastest. Just the most fun to drive.

Another breakdown! Id happily have my money back now

IMO, it's not so much the price point but the volume. Higher volume marques have more development money, more robotics, and more units to discover and weed out issues and will probably have less problems. Think of models like Jaguar, Rover, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, and other low volume cars...

Actually the first year Evora was normally aspirated and only produced about 275hp. The same as my RAV4.
  28. KAR120C

    Emira performance - disappointing?

It doesn't. Obviously it's not a compromise for many people. Your personal expectations just don't align with the product they offer. Nothing wrong with that - it just says you need to be looking at a different vehicle.

    Emira performance - disappointing?

I'd like to see a bigger sample size of tests. Regardless, it is what it is. Definitely not worth being unhappy about it, just get the car that works for you.

    Emira performance - disappointing?

4.6 seems faster than 5. But then again every car mag test abuses the shit out of a car to get the numbers lower than a prudent owner ever would. That said, the 0-60 numbers are only marginally, if not completely irrelevant if you want to hang with guys in the twisties. I've never had any...

The Lotus badge has never represented high power. It's always been about finesse. If you thought you were getting the fastest stoplight car when you ordered it, you have always been destined for disappointment.

    Throwing codes

A CEL is yellow warning for a reason. You're not in imminent danger of hurting anything, especially if it's just an O2 sensor. If people stopped driving a car every time an O2 code flashed, the highways would be littered with abandoned cars. You are absolutely fine for a short period of time...

    Throwing codes

You can drive with O2 issues without a problem. My understanding is that a car is drivable with the CEL on. If the CEL starts to flash, then you must not drive it or you'll risk damage.
