    Shifting in V6 manual

Wow, I can't imagine driving on a road that required first gear. Even on the super slow "15 mph" corners (which are much faster than posted), I'd leave it second just to avoid two awkward shifts. There is enough low rpm torque in an SC car to avoid first gear.

    Shifting in V6 manual

Only time you'll ever need first is at a stop or ultra slow traffic. I still downshift to first while stopping with a quick double clutch. I guess I could wait until I'm stopped, not sure it makes much difference. I just like to be in gear in case I want to go immediately without needing to...

    Shifting in V6 manual

I don't think it's the supercharger, probably just the nature of the engine/throttle/ECU. The supercharger is controlled through a mechanical valve related to intake vacuum. When you blip, the vacuum drops and the valve opens the supercharger. The blip is so fast it will open the supercharger...

    Shifting in V6 manual

It's hard to do on most cars, including the Emira. If you double clutch it'll slide right into first. I also only use first when coming to a stop. Way too low for actual driving.

    Shifting in V6 manual

Exactly right. It's only needed on a downshift. Rev matching is the process of 1) clutch in and downshift, 2) blip throttle, 3) clutch out. If done correctly, you'll blip the rpm's slightly above what is needed for the next lower gear, then as the revs begin to fall you'll release the clutch...

    Shifting in V6 manual

No, I paid for them, I'll use every dang one of them! Seriously, though, the only time I skip a gear is if the rpm is low and I want to get power quickly. I might downshift directly from 6-4, or 5-3. On upshift I'll just pop through all the gears quickly. I'm sure it's ok to skip a gear...

    Shifting in V6 manual

I fully agree with Porter. I’ve owned tons of manuals and have never had a clutch wear out, even on my track cars. Take the time to learn to rev match well and down shifting through every gear will become a really enjoyable part of the whole experience. If you rev match there is no wear...

    USA/Canada Delivery Thread

The paint changing trick has disappeared, so maybe ordering the V6 FE option is kaput. I noted in the Specs section where you can still see the V6 FE, the wording is "limited stock, check for availability", which would indicate no more can be ordered. The Base V6 is shown under specs but...

Works ok. Just select another color and it will magically appear. Might take a couple of times but it will bring up the V6.

It's still there. The configurator has some sort of display problem. Select a different color (may have to do a couple of times) and the V6 option will eventually come up.

    Tires recommendations

I've had DWS 06 as my all season of choice on at least 6 vehicles. Limit is obviously a little lower than a summer tire, but they still stick regardless of temp and are very predictable if driving hard.

Lateral G's after day of driving

I won't disagree. I used to record laps with the g meter and that's often the case. On public roads I've found it be just the opposite. In the hilly twisties, I can repeatedly hit 1.1 with the Goodyears at slower speeds with no drama since it's easy to control a little slide. But no way...

The Tire Squeal 2024 - Charity Driving Event in Indiana

Got your new Emira? Looking for some driving destinations? Want to do something really unique? I used to organize our local Lotus group drives and liked to have a theme for a drive whenever possible. In 2018 I put together a long drive through the some of the hilly areas in South Central...

Manual shift not going into 1st, 2nd, reverse

If your crossgate cable is disconnected, you will be stuck in 3-4 as you noted. You'll not be able to use 5-6, 1-2 or reverse. However, a disconnected crossgate cable would be super easy to move left / right but nothing would happen in the gearbox.. The fact that you can't move it to the left...

What are some annoying "features" you've experienced?

I suspect it's the same old situation that the Evora and Elise had since the radiator plenum releases air upwards. I had hoped the new outlet design wouldn't let as much hot air flow directly into the HVAC intake. But, it sure seems to!

What are some annoying "features" you've experienced?

Exactly! lol Does your non A/C air also get a lot hotter than the outside temp air after the car gets warm?

What are some annoying "features" you've experienced?

I don't mind most of the little quirks, I just get used to them. The one that is truly is an issue for me is fan temperature. If the outside temp is much over 70F, then after just a very few miles, the air coming out of the vents is way too warm regardless of temp setting. So, I either...

    Popping noise near subwoofer

I "think" i hear the same sound. Not the subwoofer "heartbeat" sound that others describe. It seems to mostly happen when I come to a stop. Almost like an expansion "pop" due to heat. It does it once, then that's it until I stop again.

    Cruise Control on Emira

I also wish the short push was one mph and long was 5. The only time I ever use cruise is on the interstate which is pretty boring driving so I don't find it too distracting. I normally just let it go with the 5. The ticket is going to be big either way.

Does it turn differently than a 911?

Thanks! The Nimbus gets a lot of compliments. BTW I have the Goodyears and I"m pretty happy right now. I dropped 2 lbs from recommended pressure on all 4 corners (cold). I feel like the understeer lessened and the shoulders are still no where near rollover. I periodically checked the G...

Does it turn differently than a 911?

If he's driving at moderate speed, I'm not sure it's understeer. You have to hit a corner pretty hard to induce understeer with the Emira. As an anecdotal point of reference, I was out on a very spirited group drive this weekend through some hilly twisties. I was leading and a 911 was...

That is incorrect for the Emira and every other car that I’ve owned with Homelink. Each button is individual and if one fails you can just program with another button. The only time a button #1 failure would be a problem is if you want to clear all the codes.
  36. KAR120C

Does it turn differently than a 911?

I think the important question is not how the nose looks, but how it’s actually responding. If the car is taking the corner at the same speed and you are not experiencing understeer, then it’s just a visual thing and you’ll get used to it.

How to fill up with gas without touching paint

^^This. I also rotate the nozzle straight up after removing. If there's a drip waiting, it'll run down the nozzle and you can get it away from the car before it actually drips. Never had a drop touch the car.

How to fill up with gas without touching paint

It's hit or miss depending on the pump handle at a particular station, but be sure you've inserted the nozzle all the way in to reduce the chance of it touching. But the best bet is just to keep a cloth handy or just hold the handle while pumping.
