No option other than to reject the car

Rejecting the car seems a bit dramatic to me. At least wait until they tell you how quickly the pump will be replaced. It might just be a few days.

Emira Issues - from final production cars

That's really encouraging news. Great to see these early issues being (slowly) ironed out.

Anyone seeing rust on V6 rear subframe?

True. But that's not the same as saying that very high qualify manufacturing can't be consistently achieved in China under the right conditions. There are plenty of Chinese, Korean, European and American businesses doing so. (typed on my iPhone . . . that was made in China)

Lotus produce record number of sports cars in H1 of 2023

Really encouraging to see annual Emira production heading towards 5,000 cars.

Anyone seeing rust on V6 rear subframe?

I don't get this mindset. Lotus Cars Limited is a low volume sports car manufacturer. They would be idiots not to access parts that are available across the broader Geely group, like indicator stalks from Volvo or steering wheel controls from Lynk & Co. That is a long way from "scraping the...

Anyone seeing rust on V6 rear subframe?

I will assume a disgruntled former employee until proven otherwise. Anyone who has spent time in factories or workshops has met the "conspiracy guy" and the "professional victim" . . and they're usually the same person.

NZ new delivery.......not a great start

Sorry to hear-- really sucks. I would expect that your dealer would have done the full software update before handing over the vehicle (they certainly do in Sydney) so I question whether this is a software issue.

Stone chips on black trim around the rear wheels?

This doesn't sound right to me at all. Most PPF installers using quality products (Xpel, Suntek, etc) offer a multi-year warranty, so why would you need to spend 7,800E every 2 years to "renew it"

    I4 FE Exterior color dilemma......

VG is a beautiful colour, but make no mistake, it is dark. It looks black in the shade and only pops in bright sun. The other thing to be aware of is that VD shows marks, scratches, swirls, etc (much like black paint can).

Convince me to order this thing

For what it's worth, my car was built in March and I haven't had a single issue with it.

Convince me to order this thing

I've owned many Porsches. Have had the Emira for about a month now, and I'm loving the change. It's a breath of fresh air. As someone else said above, the interior quality is about 90% of Porsche, but I'd argue that every time you drive the car it's much more of "an event". It feels much...

More price news in the UK due today

Absolutely sucks. Can't believe Lotus doesn't understand the reputational damage this sort of situation creates. Is Matt W just asleep at the wheel?

    Evo this month

I don't think Lotus is bothering with Emira media. They have a two-year order book for Emira . . . why waste time generating more demand they can't supply?

    Owners Manual

When I picked up my Emira a few weeks ago I was told that Lotus has stopped providing the printed manual and switched to online only (at least in Australia)

The great big "all the customer test drives" thread

Ditto. I'm absolutely loving my Emira. I've owned Porsches for years (most recently a 911 GTS), and the Emira is a breath of fresh air. It's an event every time you get in the Emira. But don't get one if you're uncomfortable with people staring and pointing.

CarPlay/AndroidAuto connection lost at toll barriers

This is an issue in Australia. Apple Play shuts off for about two seconds every time we go through a toll booth. Suspect it's something to do with the radio frequency used for toll transmission.

Emira Updates - My Lost Notes... Game of Life 411

Your first point is incorrect. The Emira does have Hill Assist. However, if you leave the car in gear when you're waiting at the light the Hill Assist times out. If you wait in Neutral and put it in gear when you're ready to move off, you have several seconds of Hill Assist.

Dark Verdant Lotus Emira Photo Thread

Romans have got a bloody talented photographer on staff. Not only have they managed to make VD look sensational (more like BRG) but they actually got the tan leather looking correct, rather than the oranage you see in most photos.

Being held to ransom with my own car

Almost certainly UK only. Lotus is very unlikely to run their wholesale invoices to Europe, Australia, etc through the same numbering system as their retail invoices in the UK.

    Hello from Sydney, Australia

Not the situation here, unfortunately. DAB is literally not enabled on our cars for some bizzare and unexplained reason.

Had the Emira 3 months it’s been in for repairs most of that time

Spot on. These are RHD cars, so Lotus can't send them to many other markets. Given what has happened to UK interest rates, and the fact that most of these orders were placed two years ago, it's hardly surprising that there are cars available.

    Hello from Sydney, Australia

Hi Jon, sorry to hear about the paint. Am curious, do you have PPF and if so can you easily spot the bubbling through it? I rushed off to get PPF on my car, but then it occurred to me that it could conceal this issue "until it's too late".

    Hello from Sydney, Australia

The lack of DAB or maps in Australia is annoying, especially because they were clearly listed as features of the car— and the cheapest KIA or MG has these as standard these days. I also don't think it's right that new owners only discover this issue when they go to pick up their Emira. I use...

Another 718 GT4 vs. Emira Test Drive

Don't agree with this at all. 1. We have no "reliability data" for the Emira yet. Initial problems (and most are small annoyances) with very early production cars don't mean that reliability will be poor. I remember back in 2014 when Porsche had to replace the engine in every single GT3 . ...

No User Manual is being provided

The most recent batch of Emiras delivered to Australia doesn't include a User Manual. The factory says they are no longer providing a paper manual, only an online manual via the Lotus website. Has anyone taken delivery in the UK in the past few days, and is this the same there? BTW, the car...

📓 Journals Diaries of the first Lotus Emira picked up from Hethel - V6 FE - yellow / ice / silver / sport

Feel for you. Terrible customer service from Lotus, I'm afraid . . . yet again. For all the talk, they still just don't seem to get the level of customer service expected at this price point. They need to seriously lift their game before Electre starts attracting luxury SUV owners to the brand.
