So I got to take a test drive.... :)

I can't speak for others but I"m not buying the Emira because of its straight-line performance. I'm getting it for the curvy stuff. It was either this or the Cayman/Boxster but I was bummed about the tall gearing. Why have a stick if you just use 2nd and 3rd? Plus the Emira has looks that...

Emira reservation woes, and other car woes... feedback appreciated!

In hindsight I think you will be happy with that decision! Hey at least you've been able to drive one...:)

Emira reservation woes, and other car woes... feedback appreciated!

Yeah good advice, especially with the tumultuous state of the global economy today. I hear you though, waiting sucks...:)

U.S. Update: Allocation & Order Date

At the risk of beating this poor dead horse some more, just read the agreement. All the terms should be spelled out clearly and you should be able to discern whether or not you have a binding contract. After that If you choose to call yourself a customer and not a "potential" customer then...

Ha you stated it perfectly, much better than I did.

U.S. Update: Allocation & Order Date

sigh, ok. I had lots of "customers" in Real Estate give me a deposit but that wasn't a guarantee they were getting the house. Not until a purchase contract was signed by both parties. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding what you are looking for here, sorry.

Order placed? : post your —FINAL— spec here

Definitely like the silver wheels with the Nimbus, very nice!

U.S. Update: Allocation & Order Date

I think it depends on your definition of "customer". You certainly have at least an informal relationship at this point, something like dating, a relationship but no real committment until you are married..:)

U.S. Update: Allocation & Order Date

a deposit is not a contract so anything can change. All a deposit does it get you a place in line and create an open purchase order. The thing you want: a car. The thing of substance: a deposit. The thing Lotus offers: a place in line. No agreement on how the car is built or what it will...

U.S. Update: Allocation & Order Date

I agree. I have a price in my head I'm willing to pay for this shiny object and it's not over $100kUS. You have to be willing to walk away sometimes.

    Finance Options

Ha, welcome to Biden's world. Even 5.9% looks good...:( I'll probably just pay for the damn thing outright...if I have any money left in my portfolio!!

Sure glad to hear that! I'm happy to be back in my 30's again...:)

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

Ha that's the same reaction my wife had with the Porsche. She thought I was crazy to look at a car that is so common here in So. Calif. Needless to say she was more than ok with the Emira when she saw it! I think she is almost as excited as I am...:)
  17. Pops68

U.S. Update: Allocation & Order Date

Yeah I agree, once you have put cash down and they have accepted an order that becomes a binding contract in which the terms can only change with mutual agreement! I'm more concerned with the state of the global economy and its effect on markets. I suspect (and hope) that once the Ukraine...

    Road Driving Impressions

Not at all, especially if this has a light flywheel because clutch engagement should be more sudden. Laguna Beach has lots of steep inclines so the hill start assist will be quite welcome...:)

    Road Driving Impressions

I heard one video that sounded like the exhaust note got louder in track mode? I hope so because sport mode wasn't as impressive as I hoped!

for sure!! Definitely on my bucket list!

I have to work to get under the 210# weight limit but yeah I want one too...:)

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

Funny how our perspective and priorities change as we get older (wiser?). I thought I had shaken the sports car bug when I sold my Z06 a couple years ago but like herpes(so I've heard) it came back and bit me again. I thought I'd better make the move before the "golf carts" take over the world...

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

"...one solution is to buy it, drive it a few months to see if there’s a connection and if not, flip it for equal or more..." Isn't that pretty much the same standard as marriage in today's world?...:)
  24. Pops68

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

Interesting perspective, I agree! I'm happy they made this one last ICE car though because when this old carnut is finally forced to hang up his keys, they will be for a good old gas-powered, manual transmission sports car. All the kids and these new EVs can just STAY OFF MY LAWN!..:)
  25. Pops68

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

Exactly! I loved my c6Z06 and it had power well beyond what I could use on the street. As awesome of a car as it was I yearned for that "fun" factor that I got in my very first car, a little 85hp Datsun 510 that would happily drift around corners all day! That's my expectation of the Emira..:)
  26. Pops68

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

Well said! That tall gearing is the reason I decided against a Cayman, an otherwise awesome car.
  27. Pops68

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

Pretty much anything that you have to wait for and have time to build your expectations is somewhat of a letdown once you finally get possession of whatever it is. And there is a direct correlation between height of expectation and length of wait. I wish it wasn't so. It would have helped to...

    Leather vs Alacantara?

This little piggy says; I worry more about wearing the side bolster getting my porky butt in and out of the car... If I was one of y'all skinny folks I'd buy a Jetson I..:)
  29. Pops68

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

Yep that's the main reason I'm not looking at the GT4. Who wants a shifter they can't use much?!!

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

Nice job! I figured street driving would be as boring as it looked. Too bad you couldn't get on some twisties. And if that's the green I'm happy I decided to go with Nimbus! Call me old but I think I'm gunna opt for the touring setup as I plan on spending much more time on the street than...

    AMG launch 680bhp 2.0

Ehhh, great engineering, great performance, nice interior but if you look at any Mercedes wagon it will be dated in just a few years. Not to mention the depreciation. Hard pass for me.
  33. Pops68

Anyone received their 30 day notification yet?

Yep, most of us "adults" are just like children when we want something but have to wait for it...:) Having forums where you can vent and have little "temper tantrums" helps ease the tension. I had to wait 5 years to get my Pantera built and I was dying!! No forum or anyone to vent to so I went...

U.S. Update: Allocation & Order Date

Thanks for that, now I just have to live long enough to see my Emira...:) But then anticipation is a huge part of the experience. It took almost 5 years to have my Pantera built, only to sell it a few years later because it wasn't what I had dreamed it was!

U.S. Update: Allocation & Order Date

Other than exclusivity, what's the diff between a FE and subsequent Emiras?
  36. Pops68

U.S. Update: Allocation & Order Date

Sorry whippersnapper, not all the "old guys" want automatics. Heck out here in Calif. a manual serves as an anti-theft device because none of the kids know how to row gears.
  37. Pops68

U.S. Update: Allocation & Order Date

I dunno, I put 75k hard miles over 12years on my c6z06 and other than choosing to redo the top end to address a potential valve issue the car was awesome and trouble free.

Lotus Evora GT drive by Randy Pobst

Interesting how he talks about how smooth and high revving the engine is. You hear some of the reviews of the Emira engine and it's a bunch of "ho hum it's and ok engine but..." Did that slight detune make that much difference?
