Parking sensors going off in stop and go traffic

Another me too here. Mine started playing up at the weekend after a year of no issues. It pops up in the display when stopped in traffic now and sometimes after starting up when there's nothing in front at all. The red line on the display goes across the entire front. I am going in for the...

Anyone fitted a Ghost or Pandora immobiliser?

I spoke to the team at Ghost today and they have a solution for the Emira now that includes a "gearbox lock" which is apparently a bonus feature that should prevent it being rolled onto a low loader etc. I also spoke to trackershop-uk who say they've done several Emira installations across the...

Anyone fitted a Ghost or Pandora immobiliser?

Apparently pros know exactly where the module is and they disconnect it. They had disabled it by the time I realised it had been taken. The appeal of the immobiliser is that they'd have to try and disable it while it's still on the drive so much riskier.

I4 tuning box development - who wants one?

LOL - glad it wasn't just me who was thinking that! No way that would be in my comfort zone. Luckily I'm an hour's drive from TDI.

Anyone fitted a Ghost or Pandora immobiliser?

After the recent theft of our other car I am now considering all options for securing the Emira. Thieves quickly disabled the location services so I'm not interested in a tracker. Ghost and Pandora appear to be the market leaders in high end immobilisation so I was wondering if anyone here has...

I4 tuning box development - who wants one?

Nice figures! It looks like the net effect is +40bhp on your base as it shows 360 raising to 400. I guess this is because the underlying map is still locked so it can only work as a delta to that.

    Creaking noise

This is the text from Lotus on the creaking front suspension problem and fix that I had. I didn't get the symptoms you describe but it does mention a "scraping" noise so it's a possibility.

    Damage to PPF

Yikes, that would have been ugly without the PPF! I'm glad I went for it on mine. A splitter paint repair would have cost a lot more for sure.

The definitive Hawk Brake Pad guide, with Low dust option

I'm interested in both reducing the "grabiness" and the dust. Maybe I'm out of touch with pad prices but it looks like these would come in at nearly £500 for fronts and rears in the UK which seems like a lot to me?

    Damage to PPF

Sounds like it was a quite an impact. So was the paintwork completely saved by the PPF?

What issues are there with the I4 (if any) looking to buy

Creaky front suspension which was fixed by adding some rubber cups. One CEL when the battery mysteriously went flat but all good since then.

    UK Car insurance craziness?

Have you tried Compare the Market? They usually get the best price when I search. I eventually got mine with Budget Insurance (the car hire people). Maybe Huddersfield is just a bit too close to Bradford? 😬

    Window issues

Epic fail here. I tried this procedure to fix a noise I get from the driver's window each time the door is opened and it drops slightly. I wasn't able to get the expected click. When it says "hold the switch for 2 seconds" I assume it means first in the up position (when window fully up) and...

I4 tuning box development - who wants one?

From what I remember, the tuning was done by proxy. Only Mercedes had access and Lotus fed them their requirements. Might explain why it took so long to fix the early DCT shift issues and also the reverse gear shift delay? However, I echo the voices here. Please encourage your tuner to keep the...

    Creaking noise

Mine was solved by the dealer adding some "rubber cups" to the front suspension struts. Apparently there is a Lotus advisory to apply this fix for any reports of creaking from the from suspension.

I4 tuning box development - who wants one?

Great to hear this is in development! I'm interested but it would depend on 3 things: 1. How easy it is to install and remove 2. How easy it is to detect from the logging 3. No CELs

    Feels slower than 400bhp

I agree with the comments above.. I test drove the V6 and my i4 feels more urgent despite being down on bhp. It also feels faster than the 400bhp NA V8 I had in my previous M3. Both the V6 and the V8 were very linear which a lot of people like for predictability. It's all about the torque...

For those of you who like stripes and stickers

No, I'm not a fan, personally. I've not really seen any after market mods that I thought genuinely improved the looks. It's a testimony to Lotus that they nailed it right out of the blocks.

📓 Journals The 'Real Superman' - Seneca with Red Leather

Many thanks for the info and great to hear I can confirm this easily. I'll have a go later today. I was also out for a run this weekend. I really want to use it every fine weekend this year as it's just too nice to stay cosseted in the garage!

📓 Journals The 'Real Superman' - Seneca with Red Leather

Apologies for dragging this one back from the vaults but it came up in my search for exactly this topic. Whenever I drive the car after a few weeks break I am surprised by how firm the suspension feels, despite choosing the touring setup. I would say that on the lumpy roads near me it can be a...

    UK Car insurance craziness?

Some good news here finally. My renewal is down from nearly £1,000 this year to £750 next year. However, I am getting £508 from Santander on Meerkats which is far more plateable and nearly £200 less than the RS3.

Thanks for the detailed research. My current cable tie solution looks naff! Pardon my complete lack of engineering nouse but do you need any special tools to attach and close the crimps?

Chronic electrical issues on late 2024 build I4 First edition

I don't recall seeing either of these issues with the early UK i4 deliveries so these seem to be "new" things they've somehow introduced into later builds. I wonder if there's any differences in the US models that could be at play?

I4 - car revs "high" and sudden "launching/sudden thursting" in low gear

I agree, I’ve had my i4 for almost a year now and this has never happened. It sounds like it could be dangerous if it happened in traffic or mid corner. The only thing I can liken it to is my E90 M3 in Sport+ where the throttle was insanely sensitive - kind of off/on. But I’ve not experienced...

Lotus Emira 2.0 Reverse gear issue

The shift from D - N - R is night and day different so you would 100% feel the improvement assuming you had the original issue (early order). I don't think you can see versions on the screens anywhere. Perhaps with an OBD2 reader?

Keeping the car in Tour mode for the 1000 mile break-in

Good discipline. You'll have trouble keeping it under the rev limit in sport mode 😎 I went for an oil change at 1,000 even though it's not in the service schedule.

That looks nice. Does it replace the OEM cover or fit over it? Who supplied that?

    Crook Locks?

Hi Geoff, I use the Stoplock Pro Elite on my Emira. I did some research and that one seemed to do well in tests plus its relatively compact for storage when driving. The Emira has an irregular shaped steering wheel which make things a little more challenging. I fit mine with the lock at 4...

Time for new tyres/tires - What are the new options?

PS4s or PS5s would be at the top of my shopping list. They had amazing grip on my M3 previously. They offer a really good balance between summer and winter useability too. It would interesting to know what made Lotus select the Goodyears.

Totally 🍿 for this! Amazing what you have been able to do with the interface. Already looks streets ahead of the dull OEM offering. I'd also love to know if it can work with Carplay.

More Than 360hp!? Lotus Emira 2.0T Dyno Test Review (1st 2.0 Dyno Test)

That's reflected in the responsiveness. There's virtually no turbo lag. It's noticeably more immediate than my RS3, which is no slouch!

    Emira i4 servicing costs??

Good shout. I am amazed at the MPGs I get on a long run. Easily pushing 40mpg+. You can comfortably cruise at around 70mph and 1,500rpm in 8th. I never even considered this when choosing but it's a nice bonus.
