I just keep it under 1/2 throttle and let the engine does whatever it want. It will rev over 4K when accelerating but long as it doesn't run at over 4K constantly, you're fine.

Yea, won't see 8th gear till you're over 70. at 80 in 8th, the engine is only running 1800 rpm.
