298 was submitted to the NHTSA from day one almost a year back (Oct 5th 2023). We were already suspecting that the US i4 will be 400hp then, but Lotus will not confirm until 6 weeks ago. This is from the PDF that they submitted to the NHTSA:

298Kw is 400hp, rest of the world (except China) gets the 268Kw which is 360hp.

VINs are probably already assigned to all Autos but there's no formal procedure to get those to the varies dealer.So it's all a bit random when the dealers will get those information except the formal notification once they're entered on a shipping manifest.

Don't think so as the V6 auto went very smooth.. I think the initial delay for the V6 is not just EPA but also DOT safety issues( passenger side airbag sensor. etc) . now that the chassis have passed all safety standards. just certifying the i4 (which is a much more modern engine) should be bleeze.

Your VIN plate is assign to the chassis when it enter production. As I say, it's a dealer to dealer thing or even a country to country thing. Sure the formal notification is sent to the dealer once it's enter in a shipping manifest. But others have gotten their VIN before then. Auto?

The VIN is assigned when the car enters the production line. How soon you get that info varies from dealer to dealer depending on how proactive they' are.

Ah, you get a VIN when it enters production so it's not necessary "done", latest update from my dealer is that v6 AUTO are expected late Sept but that's West Coast so if you can probably expect yours mid Sept.

Not really. Before the delay and when i4 was due to arrive in Apr 24, My Dealer was down to 15 i4 FE allocation left on the 2nd/last FE production run as of the Nov 23 update before they receive additional allocation in Dec 23 when the delay was announced.

How many albums do you have and do you have cover arts for your Albums? How long does it takes to load up your cover arts each time you start your car. I have over 40GB of music and it take 4-5 minutes before all the cover arts loads up.

Original reason for China getting the i4 is that import duty is based on engine displacement and the 3.5l V6 ends up costing like US$50k more than the i4 so they expect to sell mostly i4 in China. I think the original plan called for the 360 initially so to give an advantage to the V6 on sales...

All depends on the countries regulations and if they need to get the car recertify for Smog and such.
