It's not easiest of exhaust installs. Definitely need a few skills up you sleeve to fit this one.

Could an ECU Master DET3 piggyback be used on the i4????

I never had any trouble taking the OEM exhaust out, but I did change the downpipe at the same time so that probably gave more space. The hardest part was getting the new one in and lined up. A days jobs all up. But worth it.

Putting an aftermarket downpipe and exhaust on my i4 just added $580 to my insurance..... scamming insurance companies!!!

Well it actually gives the car around 20 bhp extra depending on the exhaust and downpipe. And no, they don't go to great lengths to tune their exhausts to optimise performance. If they did that an aftermarket exhaust wouldn't give any extra power. They go to great lengths to optimise emissions...

Must be done as a percentage gain rather than the piggyback actually telling the turbo to run more boost. My ECUMaster DET3 piggyback (as well as others) has the ability to control specific boost levels, which is why I thought you could just go straight to the 440hp. This being a new car...

Surely the piggy back for the 360hp version can raise the boost and fuel enough to take it to the 440hp as stated for the 400hp version piggyback. The factory 400hp Emira would surely only be getting this extra power from a little extra boost pressure and fuelling anyway.

The current diffuser could also be modified to allow for extra cooling vents, this would be way cheaper than a new diffuser. The current vent pushing air over the valve controller is pretty small, and I doubt it does much.

Just need a heat shield made up to protect the valve motor and wiring.

Give me a week or so to get some better videos of mine. It sounds crazy. I just installed a BOV adaptor plate which adds to the theatre.

I'd argue. They different that's all. My i4 with a similar set up to yours sounds amazing. Pops, bangs, whistles, air dumps, etc. There's theatre everywhere. Plus it absolutely smashes the V6 on the road and on the track. The V6 has a great exhaust sound... and that's about it.

Yeah, I get that, but there's 3 ECU's (that my OBD reader can communicate with) in the Emira surely Lotus didn't rewrite all these ECU's.... I didn't think Lotus was that capable, and I doubt Mercedes would have done that either. So surely they are very similar. I'm just clutching at strings...

Probably a stupid question, but can the Lotus ECU be switched for the A45s ECU?

Hey. Yes, so far the spacer has worked perfectly. No codes have been thrown at all since fitting, and the car sounds nuts!!! Loving it.

I've got a new exhaust and downpipe with sports cat, and the infotainment power meter still reads exactly 360hp under full acceleration. Never slightly below and never slightly over. Surely those mods would have at least give a few extra hp!!!! So basically the power meter is shite.

Swap out your exhaust and downpipe for a GRP one, and get the Milltek valve controller. Turns the car into a completely different beast. Sounds amazing. The pops and bangs are mental. The i4 is an absolute animal.

The dealer not washing it is a good thing. In my experience they 'wash' more scratches into the paint. Best to leave the washing to someone who knows what hey are doing.

That's pretty good for the standard exhaust. Much better sound, and it's definitely nice being in control of the sound for each of the drive modes. But you can take it a step further with an aftermarket exhaust, like the GRP I installed on mine.

I have the GRP titanium exhaust, and the GRP downpipe with sport cat.

Zero issues my end while driving on the road. Gear changes are crisp and quick, which is why the V6 guys/gals can't get a sniff of this i4. With an exhaust and sports cat upgrade, it also sounds completely mental.

Ask GRP. They come with the titanium exhaust. They maybe able to sell them separately. Our Australian delivered cars don't have a 2nd cat.
