If you feel them carefully, they are retained by some kind of additional retaining mechanism. It's probably a mini tab of some sorts. So, if you drill it out to a slightly larger diameter, it will seat lower, but will have no retention mechanism.

That would be an easy fix, but you wouldn't have the "click" that holds them currently in place (albeit, elevated by a few mm's).

Look at the decal on your door/door jamb areas. Can't remember if it's left or right. Also, I think it would help if everyone would just post the year/month of manufacturer when they post pics.

Let us know if it works. This is basically caused by Lotus/Geely using some off the shelf fastener that obviously doesn't sit flush. It's definitely annoying, but the dealer won't do anything about out it because the solution is what Lotus elected to use. Classic case of "they all do that, sir."
