My strip is definitely tight against cowling. Contoured perfecty, but slightly loose at each end-just a dab of Goop or similar adhesive effective. Definitely functions as a seal.

Try nylon type brush to clean surface using Bar Keepers Friend liquid. Worked great for me……many other household applications for surface “rust/oxidation

Made “donut” myself-check hardware stores for foam, perhaps some used for pipe wrapping. Can’t remember whether original peice was fit flush inside pane, or slightly protruding. When reassembling I placed mine so hole in panel is “plugged”. No effect on sweep of wipers. I only assume Lotus felt...

Yea, I had the seal on the passenger side wiper, none on the driver side... added one to driver side…………….

For the discoloring, some whitish, some light rust, on the exposed aluminum supercharger casing, I used a toothbrush with a slurry of Bar Keepers Friend to remove oxidation/light rust. Then cleaned surface can be treated with ACF-50....... White deposits on plastic not aluminum...
