The engine code for the I4 is "M". The "K" stands for first edition. I have seen the M engine code used for all I4 cars to date, including ones sold in China with 400HP. I am not sure if Lotus would release a 360HP version for the base model - I guess that's possible. But if I had to guess...

We know what the VIN will say. It will be "KM" instead of "KA". The Lotus official VSI site doesn't know about the "M" engine code yet. The VIN decoder filed with NHTSA indicates a 400HP I4. This is the strongest evidence that I know of indicating that the I4s coming to the US will be 400HP...

We discussed this possibility here on this forum. My money is on someone reading it here, mentioning it to the dealer, some game of telephone happens, and now the dealer is telling customers this is what's going to happen just to have something to say other than "I don't know."

It's just a transmission for high torque FWD applications, not made specifically for diesels. Diesels just aren't that popular outside of Europe and even there is for efficient low power applications. The BG6 is mostly used with larger torque heavy gas engines.
