I very much think this could be true. Lotus could just be on damage control about the leak when they say these aren’t the colours. Cameras and lighting also will cause dramatic differences in the appearance of paint colours.

I could be wrong, but I believe the 125k rule is before taxes are factored in. I don’t think the new federal deluxe tax would affect it. I think the only way would be, as you say, for Arthur and the dealer to be willing to let it go under 125 to accommodate that. It would make a big difference...

I’m just hoping the manual with black pack comes in at under 125 before taxes. If not, here in BC we have *another* luxury tax above that price, on top of the federal one, and regular taxes… Help.

Have not heard from Vancouver dealer since placed initial deposit in the summer. Haven’t been told where I am in the order queue, nor have I been told when to expect further communications. Pretty lacklustre IMO.

Absolutely. The conclusions from that article I think are only relevant if we’re talking about straight line speed. The second real world use enters the picture, it’s a different story.

Found this link that discusses weight reduction vs additional horsepower. Apparently you could get the same benefit as removing 100lbs from a car by simply adding 6.5hp. It concludes that adding hp is a more effective way to speed up a car. Colin Chapman would be rolling in his grave...

How much does the manual M2C weigh btw? Mine with DCT here in Canada is 1605kg, so I was hoping for a significantly better power to weight ratio with the Emira… hope that doesn’t change!

Agreed. I actually think the power to weight (as we know them now 400/1400) is quite ideal for the road. significantly more power than that and it gets a little silly too easily IMO.

I am “after” trying to figure out if these so-called cancellations did occur, and if they did, to what degree. You seem to have insider info, hence the question.

Where did you get this new weight figure? Last I heard it was 1400ish I think.

This really has nothing to do with me “embracing” the car or not. I’m just curious about the real power output of the car, and asking what the reason might be if they did in fact report it more conservatively.

Both, considering it’s nowhere near a competitor for the GT4. Hell, an M2 competition is faster at 2/3 the price.

If they think they’re going to sell 5x the amount of cars at this price in Canada, then yes, I know more about the Canadian car market than Lotus. As @HiddenLotus explained already, Lotus didn’t know what they were doing with Evora pricing in Canada, either.

Precisely. This gave it away for me. Vancouver is the biggest supercar market in North America per capita, due almost entirely to Chinese buyers. The Emira had been priced for them. The rest of Canada is an afterthought.

A real missed opportunity for Lotus, I think.

For that price in Canada you can pick up newish R8’s and NSX’s. Actual super cars, with supercar performance.
