Paint issues? Does Your Car Live in a Garage or Outside?

So, it looks like the issue with the paint is not the same as the issue that used to cause blistering on the Elise/Exige. That was result of panels being painted whilst not entirely dry. The issue here seems to be result of a metal strip fitted to the inner door skin. Water is getting trapped...

    Damage to PPF

This was fixed at £100. I’ve always been sceptical about PPF but, to be fair, it did its job here. Whatever hit the film hard enough to tear it would doubtless have damaged paintwork significantly.

What to do? 911T plus Base Emira

..get something that offers a different experience. Looks like you are in the US which is a shame as you didn’t get the last of the Elise/Exige which really would offer a contrast.

What to do? 911T plus Base Emira

I think a modern 911 and Emira are too close to each other. Keep the 911 and

    The inevitable faster Emira

The entire factory now makes one car. Well, two if you count Evija but that’s got to be a hard sell. Watching the build process, fitting glass roof panels or carbon for that matter, looks straightforward. The recent factory closure was to make changes for the SE. Not many V6’s to be seen. Given...

    The inevitable faster Emira

Source was guide on the factory tour. Most of the cars being produced on the day, were i4. V6 NOT discontinued. I didn’t say it was. I asked if there would be further development, as they have previously offered that engine and gearbox with more power. He stated no. I think it must be easier to...

Any way to fix the brake dust?

Im not the first owner of my car. Previous owner had paid for ceramic coating and PPF. I have noticed there is barely any brake dust on the alloys at all. Reminds me of when I had ceramic brakes on a 981 previously. I assume the wheels were ceramic coated as well that would appear to be the...

    The inevitable faster Emira

As speculated, there will be no more development of the V6 and orders are winding down. I’d imagine it won’t be long before it’s formally discontinued. It’s all about AMG now.

    Damage to PPF

The original owner had PPF fitted to my car from new. Under the front number plate to the left, edge of the bodywork, right on the crease, I have a small hole in the PPF. I know you can’t patch it. Anyone know the cost to get that piece done? Super irritated but it has protected the bodywork

Paint issues? Does Your Car Live in a Garage or Outside?

If they are fitting doors with a revised design as part of a solution, it would infer all the previous doors carry an inherent flaw. But I don’t think they have to recall unless it’s a safety issue.

Paint issues? Does Your Car Live in a Garage or Outside?

I have a friend on the factory tour soon. I’ll ask him to ask questions about this. Thought this issue was identified well before Feb24

Is there no self amped sub that can sit where the existing sub is? Doesn’t look good having a speaker in a box on the shelf.

Paint issues? Does Your Car Live in a Garage or Outside?

I agree. You should be able to park the car outdoors. The issue I have will be shared with many others- my car is a second car, used for fun on nice days. I garage it overnight. I’m in my last year of warranty. If this is a defect that ALL cars will have, then I need it to happen on my car...

Paint issues? Does Your Car Live in a Garage or Outside?

I’d like to try to better understand why some cars are suffering with paint blistering while others are not. I think some owners have their cars outside a lot. Perhaps overnight. If the car is exposed to changes of temperature and left in the rain, regularly, is is more likely to exhibit paint...

Another audio question - speaker distortion

    Adding a subwoofer

For clarity and to save anyone else the bother, I’ve escalated the well documented disappointment with the KEF system to KEF HQ in the UK. They cannot/will not provide any alternate parts not support to address issues with the Emira audio. I suspect it’s the same problem I faced when I tried to...

I’m anyone yet able to confirm whether one of the Pioneer (or similar) underseat subs, actually fits in an Emira?

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

It would be useful to add a tab to this poll where owners can indicate if their cars live outside all the time or our garaged

    Adding a subwoofer

You’d want someone to confirm an under seat subwoofer actually fits under a seat. I like that idea far more than a sub in a box on the back shelf.

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

I continue to follow this thread with interest and fear. I’m the second owner of my car it had covered a few thousand miles when I bought it. Could the reason some cars have the paint bubbling issue and some don’t be as simple as how they are kept? I’d imagine LOTS of these cars are NOT dailies...

    Adding a subwoofer

This is the concern. To get more low end response, one of those small, self amplified subs would likely be enough. The big enclosures look absolute cack. I had that as a solution in cars 30 years ago and I don’t want to go back to it. Back then head units were easy to replace and easy to add to...

Indoor car cover potential group buy- UK only

I’ve spoken to Specialised Car covers who are based in the UK. They have the pattern for Emira and will offer £25 off per cover based on a group order of 10. That makes the cover £275 plus £10 delivery (Uk only) The cover is the prestige indoor cover priced at £299 on the site plus postage...

    Adding a subwoofer

Pioneer do a range of compact, subwoofers in a small, flat enclosure which are amplified and don’t take up much space at all. I wonder how much better that has that standard system sounding?
  30. J

    Adding a subwoofer

I suspect a self amplified sub, integrated with the system, will yield a significant benefit. Without sounding precious, there are LOADS of car audio shops around but the car is under warranty. I’d feel far more comfortable with a shop doing the work who have done an Emira before rather than...

    Adding a subwoofer

Cambridge Audio offer the installation of a sub with the standard system, which is something I think I’d enjoy. Really hoping that someone had used another business for this who weren’t charging such an enormous premium for something relatively straightforward

    Adding a subwoofer

Has anyone added a powered subwoofer to their Emira? Perhaps to the rear shelf? I’ve seen some companies advertising these but £1500 for a sub and some sound deadening is ferocious. What did you fit? Who fitted and is it a palpable improvement?

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

That’s my understanding. Wash is brief. Maybe to provoke this you need the panel exposed to rain for a few hours? Mine is an early car and it hasn’t happened. Maybe I’m lucky/ maybe the car has never been left in rain overnight? If ALL cars did it you’d think they’d recall.

Key not present- but it is…

I’ve almost gotten used to this now but maybe there is an easy fix. Takes several button presses to lock/unlock car. When in the car, I often- not always, get the key not present message. If I lock and unlock the car from inside it starts fine. Is this a common issue or shouldn’t this be happening?

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

All so irritating. I have the Emira in my garage as it’s not my daily. It’s raining here today and I’m starting to think I should use it in the rain to provoke this blistering issue. Car has done 7k miles. I’m the second owner. Got 9 months warranty left. It’s possible it’s never been left in...

Another audio question - speaker distortion

As I spend more time in the car I decided to make use of the audio, rather than listen to a podcast, which is my commuting habit now. Out on my own today, so my playlist and my choice of destination. System copes well enough albeit doesn’t seem as powerful as the specs suggest. The rear speaker...

    High Idle/Traffic crawl speed

Used the car today. At low speed I can be in first gear, foot off the throttle, and the car will move forward continually, no loss of speed. In second the same. Doesn’t seem to want more revs, certainly shows no sign of stalling. Idle seems a little under 1k rpm. Normal?
