Aftermarket suspension for nefarious EU roads

Pretty sure that virtually all folks looking for aftermarket suspension want stiffer, so that's what the market provides. I suppose it's possible that adjustable systems might be able to be adjusted softer. Seems unlikely to me though. Wheels and tires much easier to swap back when you sell...

Aftermarket suspension for nefarious EU roads

I suspect 18F/19R would be noticeably better. In my mind, 20" wheels are all about appearance anyway.

Aftermarket suspension for nefarious EU roads

Changing to 18” wheels and tires would probably be the easiest and best solution. Assuming they fit- see thread below. I’d run high performance all-season tires, probably the Michelin Pilot Sport AS4- I have those on my NSX and 993. Emira sizes might be 235/45-18 and 275/40-18, those are about...

Lotus to cut up to 200 jobs in the UK

But Lotus had essentially zero money pre-Geely, right? They might have been dreaming of and even drawing the Evora 2.0 (a.k.a. Emira), but it seems unlikely they would have been able to actually start working on it.

Lotus to cut up to 200 jobs in the UK

I doubt if there was ever any plan or expectation for the Emira to be profitable. The volumes are too low to justify even the initial development cost. I think Geely’s plan was to have the Emira rebuild credibility and bring new value to the Lotus brand name, and hopefully break even on the...

    Show Us Your Vanity Plates

Actually it’s the world’s smallest 3-car garage- only 20x28. It’s a good thing I don’t collect Impala station wagons. And fortunately, I was very clear (42 years ago!) with my wife that neither she or I would ever be able to park our daily drivers in the garage, regardless of how much it is...

I had “M111” on my last Elise, and decades ago I had “3 CAM” on my Elan. (Probably only folks who have rebuilt a twin-cam motor will understand that factual reference.) I ordered this one the day the Emira was announced. .

    Wide-Angle Side Mirrors?

Also shows different "H/Pad" for flat and convex glass. Maybe that's the heating pad behind the glass? Or just the plastic backing plate with the mounting detail? For most cars, when you buy replacement glass, it's already attached to the plastic backing. Although maybe with more tech in mirrors...

    Wide-Angle Side Mirrors?

Looks like there are several different convex glass mirrors for the left side. My guess is the first listed, "convex glass," is the UK glass, and probably the most convex, because it's for the passenger side. The EU and GCC and combo EU/GCC convex glass are probably mild blind spot mirrors...

    Wide-Angle Side Mirrors?

Well, I don't have my Emira yet, so haven't looked into it. You should post a thread asking a UK owner to search out and post the part number for their UK left-side mirror glass. Then someone will have to buy one and see if it fits! I did a quick search and found non-US convex left side mirror...

    Wide-Angle Side Mirrors?

Assuming the left side oem UK mirror glass will fit on the mirrors on the US cars, that will be both the easiest and best solution. (Since the left mirror is the passenger side in the UK, it will be convex.) I've put oem RHD left-side mirror glass (either UK or Japan) on my NSX, 993, 300ZX...

I'm out - the cancellations thread

Just emailed Gator to cancel my order. I’m not really surprised with the production delays and the few little problems some folks have had, after all, it’s a new low-volume car built in a new factory with new suppliers and new employees. Obviously, Lotus could have handled the communication...

What are you driving until the Emira arrives?

I bought in January and paid over sticker. I like it a lot, but for my old bones it would be too extreme for an every day driver- suspension pretty stiff. For me it's more of an every-other-day car.

Very cool cars. I had a yellow '72 Sprint years ago, great car and great autocross car. The first owner was a US serviceman who bought the car when he was stationed in the UK. I doubt if anyone cares, but here's a post I wrote 17 years ago that explained why car magazines started using rollout in all their times.
