There are two latches on the front of the plastic casing that hold it into place. Once these are loosened (no tools required), the whole unit just pops off pretty easily in one piece.

What are your thoughts on applying ppf on the headlights? I’ve had some headlights get badly pitted and cloudy after many years without ppf, but I’ve also heard stories about delamination and potential optical issues with ppf.

I think it really depends on the detector and power use. That exact 5v to 12v power cable linked above worked for about 5 minutes before powering down the radar and becoming very hot to the touch. Probably because it's an Escort Maxcam 360 and needs a whole lot of power for the radar + camera...

Do you folks in the UK see this kind of price degradation with other premium/sports cars? Or would you say Lotus is hit harder than others? This marketplace dynamic on Lotus cars doesn't exist in the US (yet).

CARB requires a different certification for auto vs manual - maybe that's why none are US bound yet? There was a big fiasco around this with the 911 GT3 where the PDK passed CARB, but the manual did not because of a failed "noise test." Article here in case you're interested.

The lock/unlock function probably primes the fuel pump the same way holding the start button for a few seconds would do. That’s my guess anyway.

When the shifter cables get loose, sometimes it’s hard to shift into 2 of the gears, so Lotus now just offers 4 of the 6 gears for reduced complexity.

Fun reading through all the comments, and some of you had amazing past cars! I have good memories with nearly all of my cars - it was more about the people and places I knew at that time in my life vs the car itself though. Maybe for that reason, I don't feel any pang of regret on the cars...

Corvette = 53k last year! Cayman/Boxter = 23k last year! Ferrari made 13.6k cars last year if you’re interested. So, yeah - 5k/year is feeling pretty limited to me

It's funny, because you have to accept with Lotus you're going to get some issues. You just hope the issues aren't big, and for the most part, they aren't. But if this was my wife's car, she wouldn't last a week. :ROFLMAO:
