Few things in your rant here comparing GM to Lotus.
"Let this car just go to the shop and get fixed"
How far is your local Lotus dealer? I'm lucky enough to actually have one in my state, although it is 200 miles one way, over a mountain pass.
Chevy dealer=18 miles
Lotus is based in England...
That's what I keep telling myself (ironing issues vs the conspiracy theory 😉). I sure hope so for everyone and Lotus' sake!
Again...I fully agree issues happen with new models. But a company needs to handle them properly too.
Seems a bit of "whatabout-ism" going on there. The had issues with the 2014 Stingray tester as well and most Corvette forum members feel the 2014 model is one of the most reliable in the C7 generation. So 🤷♀️
Again...is comparing GM to Lotus even a thing? How many Corvettes are produced...
Exactly my thoughts....new model cars always have things that need ironing out. It's never fun for anyone dealing with them and I'm sure it's not fun for the dealers and companies either.
Comparing C8 issues or even Porsche issues is a bit different. My local Chevy dealer is 18 miles from me...
Same here. Love these guys and their honest reviews. Throttle House guys are great as well. James popped in here a couple times several months ago. According to a recent vid, he's still looking forward to the Emira.
Have a feeling it'll be a while before any of these guys can get their hands...
Hahaha! I saw exactly zed F40's...like ever!! (Like how I snuck that in? Zed. So much cooler! 😉)
Yup...cars getting faster and people getting stupider!
*** and I'm an idiot because I meant zero and I knew zed was "Z" but yet my brain was thinking zero. 😳🙄
But I'M buying this Lotus for the looks. I won't be tracking it. I won't notice an 8lb weight savings with forged wheels. But I will notice other driver focused things like heated seats and lane departure warning.
I want a fun car to drive that looks like a mini Ferrari. Ya, I said it. Lotus...
And to add insult to injury...many people hand dry their cars after these water torture devices. Just grinds the dirt that's left into the paint. I see this all the time 😱
Like someone else said as well...I had NEVER considered a silver car until now. It pulls me from Magma every time I see shots like this. Just a fantastic color!

Ya and leather can also scratch and get worn areas too. Everything will wear with use and lack of upkeep, but I wouldn't discount alcantara solely for fear of wearing out.
The fact that you're even concerned about it tells me you're probably the type of person who cares for their things. 😊
We have 2 winter rides. An F-350 diesel and our latest edition (traded in the Mini for it), a Hyundai Santa Cruz. No, it's not as fun as the Mini. But it's WAY more comfortable, has WAY more tech and is much more practical for our businesses.
Where in this article does it state it isn't as durable as leather? This one says it's more durable than real suede, which is a type of leather.
Again...I don't think it's a durability issue that comes with alcantara. It's more of a visual thing where it looks worn. It requires more upkeep than...
Oh OK...I was going by @hagen111 comment about the thickness. As to the shape, I've had flat bottomed wheels before and that's no biggie, but you're right, a squircle may be a bit trying.
I agree about the M wheels being way too thick. Never did get used to it. And the Emira's is worse? Oy...
Wonder what they were thinking with this design?
Sold my 991.1 GTS w/ factory aerokit cup for the Emira..😒
Then got a manual C7 Z06.
Then got my TTS
I feel like there are so many less expensive passions. Rock collecting. Knitting. Drawing. Oh well...
Huh...ya I'm just not a fan of the stockers. As to aftermarket wheels, I never keep any of my fun cars stock. You'll probably be horrified to hear it has a Techart drop as well. And also some upgraded aero parts that are not all on the car yet.
Most all mods I do can be put back to stock any time.
Alcantara actually has great longevity. What can wear quickly is the nap, which gives it a worn appearance. There are ways to maintain the nap with brushes, limited use of hand lotions, etc to keep it looking good longer term.
Lol! Yup, like Leonard said...pretty much forever.
Just don't advertise it much. Prefer to be "just one of the guys." Besides, it's easier to report all the naughty things back to your wives 😈
***Except Emiraspain who is a sworn bachelor.
You were the only female I knew of, tbh.
Never used to name ours either, but names are starting to stick for some reason now. We have names for all of them.🤣
